I was thinking about taking the strap button off the fin of my Strat and somehow attaching it to the neck plate so it would be like where the strap button is on a lot of set in neck guitars on on an sg. I just think the strap and guitar looks a little nicer when it's behind the guitar. However I could still remove the neck plate if I needed to mess around with the neck. Any thoughts or ideas?

You could probably find an aftermarket neckplate like that if you look around.

Here's a simple solution. Take the button off, get a thin ended pocket knife and shave out some of the current hole to make it wider. Then screw it in with the neck screw, you can still take off the neck, and it does no damage to the guitar itself.

I've seen this done where players bore out the center of a strap button hole so that one of the neck bolts will go through it or they get one of the Fender neckplates with the hole for the microtilt adjustment and put the strap button through this hole, sometimes deliberately mounting the plate upside down. Either way, it somewhat offsets the balance of the guitar. Notwithstanding, if it enhances their playing enjoyment, "To each his/her own."
