Does anyone here own a POG, if so what do you think of it? Is it a pedal that worth the money to purchase? Is it something that is needed for your pedal boards or is it just a neat toy?

All effects are just toys really. As Keith Richards said in an interview: "how often do these things make the jump from being a toy to a tool to put in the toolkit?"

They're fun to muck around with and come up with some new sounds but they're basically a toy to be used as an effect.

Summary: neat toy. By no means a necessity for anyone.

I don't own a P.O.G. and haven't used one but I listened to the demo on the Electro Harmonix website and thought it sounded incredible. http://www.ehx.com/ If you are especially into prog rock it would be a worthwhile investment but if you are only going to use it once or twice per gig,it probably be too big an expenditure.

I'd love to get my hands on one, they sound really cool! It's like having DEEP PURPLE in a pedal!

Keith Richards is a heinously overrated and closed-minded individual. There are entire genres of music that wouldn't exist or would be vastly different without certain "toys".

I mean, he has a point. Not everything has to be barebones playing. I for one enjoy Dragonforce. I've even seen them live. They use quite a bit of effects like these on stage, and I must say, they know how to put on a show. Also, for anyone who thinks they can't play live (they sync all their $@!& up live and don't really play) a drunk man caused Herman Li to drop his pick, leaving Sam Totman to cover for him. The music only stopped for a few seconds, but it did stop.

I'm not a big fan of too many effects either, but then you have a band like Swervedriver whose driving layers of guitars blended together to make incredible soundscapes and I have to say, yep, there's a place for effects.

But then again, when you're Keith Richards, you probably don't need any.

I agree, I don't need more than a couple effects. But that doesn't mean that the other thousands of guitar players out there don't.

 Keith is a blues feel master and a song writer extrodanire your not thinking about him right..........He ain't a shredder....... Those Genres your so passionate about that rely on effects....Believe me i've been there, My whole youth i was so so so passionate about real punk music, Dead Kennedys, GBH, Sex pistols blah blah....I thought all other music was lightweight... Not the girly Pop lady boy stuff people now call punk...Its not punk its Pop... Maddona and Katy Perry are in the same genere as all the POP kids now call punk...... I digress....In short you grow out of that Music.....Effects have there place yes your right, but ringing the neck out of a driven class a Valve amp where it breaking up nicely is the Summit....No effects can really get quite there.....

Have you ever heard Korn Live??? If not go see them and that's what bands who sound hot and tight as all hell in the studio with a Plethora of effects sound like live..... They totally suck.....And i like Korn don't get me wrong.... Go listen to Keith live.....That's how a band should sound....

And dont forget kids.....What your listening too is POP not Punk...

amg, i love GBH.

Sick Boy was like the 5th song I learned by ear. Big Women was like the 7th. Also, I can't stand modern punk (aside from a couple decent bands out there) I was at this show in late 2011 and one punk band closed their set with an anti capitalist song, then the singer said "Go check out our merch!"

One band I've followed practically forever, The Casualties, recently predicted a jump start on the East Coast scene. I can't wait.

Please enlighten me as to how Keith Richards is over rated. He,s never been noted as a great guitar player. And he does use effects just not many.

It amazes me how I can be called a troll and people get so bent out of shape because I have a negative opinion of a "classic" artist. And I assure you none of the punk I listen to is "the same as Katy Perry or Madonna". The guy has been doing the same damned thing for over 40 years for god's sake, there's only so much blues rock you can write and play.

Also, I'm well aware what he has contributed to music and that he has been very influential, however that does not make him great. That make him influential. The Stones, along with a certain other band from that era that I don't think I even have to name, have been elevated to some false god-like status, to the point where if you so much as express indifference towards them you'll be labelled a troll and people start throwing flames around. It's ridiculous.
