For me it's Being Single Awareness Day. This is that special day which comes once every year when people the world over who are alone get to have the fact of their loneliness repeatedly rubbed in their faces while the coupled world selfishly rejoices in parties and public displays and declarations of affection at the expense of their single friends. If you are single, this day is a freaking nightmare.

Hi BMW: matter o' fact, I think we should take that very seriously. For those who are alone and don't want to be certain days of the year seem designed to be unpleasant. Sympathy to all those in that position, and best of luck for the future.

Mrs C and I have been together 14 years and married for seven. This year she decided she'd like to be cooked for at home. So along with a nice bottle of bubbly I did something involving tuna, artichoke hearts and smoked oysters. Fine, but I believe the way to a woman's heart is through chocolate, and what ultimately did the trick was desert: my first ever attempt at chocolate fondant. It seemed to turn out OK and got me that kiss on the cheek Danny mentioned. Amongst other things.
