This thread is for guitar solos that most people don't recognize, remember, or even care to remember. Well, for starters, The Ramones were not known for their guitar solos, but they have had some great ones. Though it is simple, it's a nice tune and matches the emotion of the song well. most of the few other Ramones fans I know didn't really care for this song until I made them listen to the whole thing.

George Harrison's brilliant doubled guitar solo on And Your Bird Can Sing done with 2 tracks done with his 360/12 has never gotten the praise that it deserves.

Here's an "over-appreciated one: Neil Young's, "Cinnamon Girl". He keep banging away at an open D string for the majority of the solo yet many think its phenomenal playing.

As always, etc.

I know, the "one note solo" specialist. I think he's more in the overall feeling of the song.
Claude.

Charlie Sexton's solo in the Arc Angels song "Too Many Ways To Fall"...

Many people concentrate on Doyle Bramhall II's rip-roaring lead work in the song, but...

Charlie's (quieter, more cerebral) solo is as moody, etheral and atmospheric as anything David Gilmour ever laid down. Amazing use of multiple delays, reverb and pure musicianship.

Rock on, Mr. Sexton...Rock on.

I think this is where the Ramones and Neil Young learned to play solos!

I can name only 3 Ramones songs off the top of my head that have solos. They aren't common because Johnny didn't find them necessary.

Foreigner's Feels like the first time 1977. Although not extraordinary, it may have been the beginning of the Hammer on craze.

solo found at 2:55

Also under rated is Orleans harmony leads in Still The One.

Mick Taylor's slide guitar solo on the live version of "Love In Vain" from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!...there should be a wing in the R&RHOF dedicated to that solo called, "This is what slide guitar should sound like..."

Craig Fuller's acoustic guitar solos on Pure Prairie League's "Aimee" Instantly recognizable intro and some fun licks after the 2nd chorus.

Elvin Bishop's solo on "Fooled around and Fell in Love". Short, sweet, and to the point. :)

Mike Campbell's controlled intro leading to the furious conclusion on Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's "Don't Come Around Here No More".

Always liked the guitar work in Steely Dan's "Bodhisattva". One song, two solos - the first by Denny Dias, the second by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. I never hear anyone mention it.

Derek Taylor on The Pretty Thing's version of Road Runner the intro has been copied by everyone.

Hubert Sumlin's riff for Smokestack Lightnin'

Dave Van Ronk's version of House of the Rising Sun stolen by Dylan then by the Animals

Every solo by Jesse Ed Davis on Taj Mahal's first LP...Jimmy Page had a pickpockets wet dream with all of those.
