I believe the new "Modern Player" series guitars are made in China.

Yeah the Modern Player line is MIC. I have played the tele and the necks are the same as the CV teles and strats. So if one had to guess they are the CV but Fender on the front of the headstock and a bump of $50.

Different styles, different pickups, different colors - different line than CV. There ain't no CV Marauders out there. I've got a few MIC guitars now (to go with my MIM, MIJ, MIK, MII, MIA guitars) and there's nothing wrong with them.

I was told, by someone whose opinion i respect, that it is a "you get what you pay for" situation when using Chinese guitar makers.

If Fender or Gibson contract for a cut-rate product, that's what the Chinese maker will produce. If they contract for a decent product at a decent price, that's what they'll receive.

The skill level is available there for the right price, which explains why there are plenty of quality guitars coming out of China, and why there is no shortage of junk as well.

I have an 02 Squier Affinity Tele with an impossible to adjust truss rod. I also have an Epiphone Valve junior with a good tone but hums up a storm. I had to replace the input 1/4 jack on the Crafted in China Tele. The nut that held the other one on got lost in transit. It was not a standard or metric size. These days I guess there is standard, metric and Chinese. I stay away completely now from made in China when it comes to guitars and amps. I don't want to offend anyone but in my opinion they make crappy junk and ship it over here. My MP3 is a Sony made in China and that works good so far. Maybe they will get better. When I was a kid stuff made in Japan was viewed as junk for many years also! Today Japan produces great stuff. I don't like suffering Chinese growing pains!

Never said there was anything wrong with them. I have a CV 60's I use as a back up. If you are looking at the ones they offer in both the CV and MP line just know they are the same necks.

Also "ain't no" would mean there are CV Marauders since "ain't no" is a double negative.

My next guitar will be made in America. It's not just about the quality issue but more that I want to keep American jobs in this great nation as much as possible without seeing them outsourced overseas. Whenever I have a choice, I always try to buy American-made products. It's just that in this particular situation it's going to take a little longer to afford the purchase. :)

There are different levels of quality coming out of China. Look at Epiphone. Great quality on their higher end line. Gibson is still building all their guitars here.

Thank you, Krabby, for that insight. If you're gonna police all the language on this Forum, you are gonna be one busy boy, ain't you?

The CVs are a completely different line from the Modern Players; not, as you implied, the CV line with different headstock decals and a higher price tag.

Just saying I have played the teles. It is the same neck.

I have played the Marauder and HSS Tele in the stores. I owned a CV Stratocaster at one time. The ones I played were well made and sounded decent stock. I would consider purchasing one in the future, of course I would have to play it before I payed for it as with any guitar.

I have a made in China Tele copy that was very cheap (about the price of 6 or 7 sets of Fender strings). This is a lovely little guitar, great sound, knobs work well and have a full spectum for each knob, it feels quite good to play too though feels a bit rustic but that doesn't detract from the playing experience it just adds something different. The only bad point about this guitar is that it doesn't like cold, it just will not stay in tune if it is cold (meaning that the guitar is cold itself not just that we have cold weather), apart from that it is a great guitar. I've had this guitar probably about 5 or 6 years now and it's great.

Now I have a Fender MIA Tele and this is the ONLY guiter that I have ever owned that has had to go back to the shop after I've bought it to have work done on it. I have had the guitar about two months now and it has had to go back to the shop again because the same problem has reoccured. As we speak the guitar is in the shop awaiting a new nut from Fender.

I've had guitars for about 30 years and currently have something in the region of 10 guitars so that would explain some of my disappointment with the MIA Fender.

I'm not down on Fender, I still love my MIM Tele, I'm just disappointed after all this hype you hear about the MIAs, and the huge price difference between the MIAs and MIMs.

I have a Marauder. It's a very nice guitar. It feels higher in quality than a $2000 Les Paul that I played. I also played a MP thinline Tele that was really nice.
