Great question - interesting to see the variation. All my guitars are tuned suing a Peterson Strobosoft at concert pitch A=440.

Eb standard on my 12 string acoustic, Standard on my electric :)

I find the slightly lower string tension on the 12 string a lot more pleasant to play on.

It's alot better for the body top too. !2 strings generate a heck of a lot of tension on the top. You'll always find 12 strings where the bridge is starting to lift from the body. Light strings and always tune at least a half step down. I usually keep a 12 string tuned to DADGAD. Nice and ringy and a lot less stress on the top.
