Danny...Gibson Les Paul GAS...now that is some fine gas. I have been GASing for one of their 60s Les Paul Studios with the P-90s (I am like you Chet, love a good ripping P-90) in Honey Burst with the light colored back...but after my recent guitar and amp acquisitions...my Guilt is still slightly outweighing my GAS...I figure by spring or early summer, the GAS will have got me.

Good luck on your search and Chet hope you still digging that backwards gold top!

You bet I am!!!

I have seen that they are doing the '60s Tributes in Dark Backs now too!!

Not to steal the thread but I have a question about the baked maple necks. I was under the impression the maple necks were baked so they look like a rosewood neck. Do they sound like a maple neck or a rosewood neck?

You'd have to have two otherwise identical guitars in a room at the same time playing through the same amp with the same settings to answer that question. What's the chances of that? On the other hand, I'm sure there's a few guys that would tell you they can definitely hear "a more aromatic sound" through one of them. What ever that's worth.
Sorry, but I just believe that one small twist of an amps knobs and any small guitar nuance will disappear.

When I was first hearing about the baked maple fretboards I was hearing that they were closer to an ebony fretboard in tone. It does seem to be a bit brighter than maple or rosewood which would put it in ebony range. It's in the ears of who ever is listening.

Here's an option Danny. A great guitar at a good price. No one seems to have the Wine in stock right now, that I could find:

That's a beauty isn't it. but a lot of money. Here I go talking about compromises again. I discovered a long time ago that when I compromise on something I'm never satisfied, and have remorse before I leave the store. They tell us that we learn from our mistakes. It seams, thats one lesson that I've never learned.

----Danny,

I think that's about the lowest you'll see a new LP unless you go with a Studio. How much was the Traditional you originally mentioned?

Gibson les Paul standard, nice.
I ended buying a les Paul 50s tribute humbucker in honey
Burst, but it was between this one and 60s tribute goldtop
with p90s, it was an excruciatingly tough choice.
The baked maple freeboard is great

This is my LP Deluxe from the late `60`s. Get past the guilt and enjoy the guitar you only go around once.

Very nice, I like it with the covers. Since we're into show and tell until Danny shows up with his, here's mine, '07 Standard Faded LCPG#82 modified by Larry Corsa with out of phase Manilishi pickups:
