I just read through most of the reviews on Line 6 Pocket POD from Amazon.com, and seems like everyone is complaining about how fast the batteries gets eaten so quickly. However, I think this won't be a problem for me, because most of the time I'll be playing in dorm or at home where there's socket for adapter (btw. adapter doesn't come with the pack? do I have to get it separately?) so I could do endless playing with no batteries, but hopefully it won't get overheated easily? lol. Another common complain I see is Line 6 Pocket POD is built badly, it's so weak that one drop to the floor it will be cracked. Even if I were to be extremely careful, I still see people saying not after a very long time, jack gets loose / doesn't work with battery anymore, etc. I don't know what to say about that... Most importantly, the sound, people also mentioned it's not great quality, but I won't worry too much about that, with sound I'm not expecting much from a pocket amp. Besides, it's for practice only and it's cool that it's got so many different tones. At the moment, I'm also taking Palmer pocket amp and Vox AC30 amPlug in consideration. Any other suggestions? I'm hesitating... I can't decide which one to get : (

A silverface face Super Six Reverb...

...of course, you have to have a really big pocket! :P

I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with "pocket" amps. I've heard people say good things about the Danelectro Honeytone, as well as the old "Little Smokies" (although I haven't seen those in a few years.

I have a Pignose, and I love it--great sound for a little solid state amp, but once again, it would need a slightly bigger pocket.

I have a amplug AC30. It does what it says it does. I like that I can get good volume in the earphones without bothering anyone else. I wouldn't say it has good tone but it is acceptable on mine I have to have the gain up to at least 2.5 to get sound out of it. The batteries last a long time (weeks), it easily fits in a pocket and I often take it with me to try out guitars in the store.

I don't have any experience with the pod or other true "pocket" amps.

My pignose has much better tone than the amplug but it certainly won't fit in a pocket and it doesn't have an aux in. The AC plug for the pignose was extra.

I also have a Vox mini 3 that I use at home to practice quietly (about 2x the size of the pignose). I really like the features of the mini 3; it models a number of different amp types, has a of good reverb/delay (analog, spring and tape delay) and modulation effects (compression, chorus, flanger, tremolo) and you can also plug in a microphone. It can run on batteries so it would make a decent busking amp. The AC adaptor was included.

But if you are heading into this size/price range I think you should look at the Mustang I as well. I don't have one but there are a lot of good reviews for it.

Was thinking about it, although Amplug seems to be good quality stuff but now that I think of it, playing with one sound can't get me far and have fun with practice, so it's probably out of the list for now. In fact, I don't want to use headphones at all, but apparently soon I'll be staying in school dorm from Monday - Friday, and my roommates should probably be around most of the time, so I pretty much have no choice but to play with headphones on. Unless all my roommates are guitar mates as well LOL I wish : p The only time I'll be able to play without headphones is probably during weekends at home or if there's a practice room open after school. Actually, Pocketpod and Microcube cost about pretty much the same, perhaps I should go back and consider getting Microcube since it seems to be much much more reliable than Pocketpod? I was just hoping to get "pocket" size amp, it's so much easier to carry around. But, if it's carrying Microcube after Friday school to home, and carrying it back to dorm on Monday, perhaps it's not that hard I assume.

I just checked on Thailand Bangkok's Local store, they're selling this Roland Micro Cube Amp at ฿5,200 baht (which is $168 USD). While on Amazon.com they're selling this amp at $119/129 USD (which is ฿ 3680/3990 baht). Buying this local is ฿1520 Baht / $49 USD more than buying it from Amazon.com with free shipping! And perhaps buying used isn't so safe, also people seems to prefer Amazon over Ebay. Afterall, might as well buy it new and have it shipped to my place Bangkok from Amazon.com. This will be my first time purchasing for something off internet. Wish me luck and get Roland Micro Cube recieve safely. lol. I'll try to write a review on what I think about the amp once I get it. Cheers : )

Try as many as you can though. Those were just the 3 off of the top of my head.
