Guitslinger do you ever loose your power with the bad weather? Seems like thats our biggest threat around here when the wind comes.

Hi guys,we had our 4th storm last night with winds up to 90 kph (about 56mph) and gusts up to 110 kph plus about 30 cm (1') of snow. There wasn't much of a build up in places because it was so cold and the snow was dry and light so there were big drifts in some places and no snow in others.I went to the store this afternoon and there were drifts all along the road up to 2 ' high, and that was after the plow went by.

We were lucky enough not to lose power but yesterday the supermarkets were blocked with people buying extra groceries and the hardware stores had a run on batteries ,shovels and even kerosene heaters. After living in Newfoundland almost all my life I've learned to be prepared for anything in winter. We have a stockpile of batteries, flashlights, propane cylinders for the Coleman stove and kerosene for the space heater. If there is any chance at all of a blackout we fill all our water containers because we have a well and consequently no power,no water.Anyway by lunchtime it was a beautiful day, very cold but very sunny.I don't know what the forecast is for tomorrow but we're ready for whatever weather Mother Nature throws at us.Thanks for your concern,we're doing A OK.

It's a good thing that the snowplow came by regularly.I drove down my lane this afternoon and at the end of it was an 8 foot drift that the plow had kept opened up.To think that we sometimes keep on getting snow right into June makes me afraid that this is going to be one humdinger of a winter.

Glad to here all's well my friend :D
We've had a few storms this winter but they've usually been followed by rain and warmer weather. As a result we have no snow on the ground and, I swear to God, there is actually still some green grass on my lawn. Waitin' for the other shoe to drop though. Rememberin' "White Juan" with 90+cm (three friggin' feet) of snow over two days and that was around the 20th. of February. We ain't outta the woods yet
