Maybe you should stop posting to threads on subjects of which you have no knowledge.

Such love! You two should just learn to ignore one another! All this petty bickering...Go play guitar!

You guys are stupid. If your a kid and your reading this and thinking about doing it, don't do it. Stay off the streets. Stay in school. Do your homework. Don't listen to these jerks.

Most of the time, this is great advice. There are, however, exceptions.

I had a pretty unusual dad who told me after I graduated from high school that I should spend at least a year being a hobo. I didn't take him up on it, but looking back now, I think he was on to something. When I compare my artwork before college to the work I did my senior year.... there is a strong argument for having lost something for my time in school.

The better advice in my opinion is NO MATTER WHAT... avoid the most common downfall of musicians. DON'T DO DRUGS! and staying away from alcohol would also be a good move. Art isn't necessarily learned in school. But drugs will destroy you every time.

That is my 2 cents.

Martin

Just to clear things up... I'm not in school. I have a day job. And I'm not on drugs. :)

Thanks for the well wishes. I think it'll be a good laugh. And since playing guitar is pretty much all I do with my free time (geek :) ), why not make a few extra bucks off it?
One night I was just sitting at the bus stop waiting for the bus, started busting out a tune and before I'd even reached the end of the tune there was £7 and change at my feet. Nothing wrong with that, I say.

Sometimes in the US it is required that street performers have some sort of license or permit in order to perform on the streets. Then if you are caught performing without the permit you get a ticket or pay a fine usually. Some cities do this as a way to keep the streets clear of too many performers or to have contact info on the performers in case someone gets injured or something while watching a performance.

Yup it's the same here in the UK. Each council has its own bylaws on street performing. I was hoping some of the UK peeps might know anything about no-go areas and such. Just saves me having to phone the councils and get passed around from office to office. Shot in the dark really.

You'd think that there would be an underground Busking website, forum, webgroup, or club that talks about various areas like that, if not, maybe you should start one...

There are plenty of resources available to be sure. None of the threads I have come accross thus far, however, are all that recent. Besides which, it is nice to chat about this with you chaps any way. Who better to trust than a Fender player?
