nice story, I don't know that there are any teachers at my school who play anything. My math teacher's sons play though, so he might kinda understand it,
I don't wanna play in the cafeteria, no room, and I don't want any food on my baby.
I think maybe in the bleachers in the gym at lunch if I have time, and I have Activity period, it's kinda a free period, to jam out a little, kinda depends, and there's always that 15030 minutes before school. so...

My school is quite "nurturing" when it comes to music. There are 1300 odd pupils in total, but there's also community of people who hang about the music department at lunch time and after school or during frees and that. There's storerooms where people leave instruments and if you keep music on to GCSE or A level you get free lessons.

Can't complain.

Dude, I'm telling you from experience, don't bother. I used to bring mine to school when I was playing in the Pep band and jazz band. I was able to keep it in the band room, usually in the teachers office. There were a couple other guys that played guitar a lot better than me, thought they were too good for playing in "that silly jazz band crap" and were allways messing with my stuff. Kept my Strat in a soft case, and asked the two guys, please stop using my Strat, bring your own if you want to play. OK sure no problem.
Well that just didn't work. I told the music teacher, I'm keeping my guitar in you're office so no one will use it. Oh, they told me you said it was ok. No, why do you think I'm storing it in you're office for the day?
So, the soft case wasn't doing much, found an old tweed case and kept it locked in the music room. Would you believe those jerks took the time to pick those stupid little locks on the hard case? well they did!
I eventually had to get a lock and drill the case for a small hing and loop to secure the damn thing, even then they still tried to get into it.
I don't know what the big deal was, guess just because I didn't want them to use it. Good luck, hope you're experience is better than mine, I was in a small school about the same size as yours.

That sucks, I don't know of anybody but like 3 three other people who even kinda play, one plays a nylon string acoustic, well as far as I know that's all, but he's really timid and wouldn't mess with it, one's a senior and the superintendents son, he might would ask, but he wouldn't just take it, and one's a chick who claims she plays, but I don't think she's picked a guitar up in like 6 months, and she's in my class, so I have a watch on her all day, so...

I will have to it is up to you and the rules of your school. As far as critisim from others, most people deal with that all the time. Take the useful information and use it, take the non-useful information and let it pass by you.

When I was in school, my school had a master rule that they could bend to their will, "There will be no offensive or disruptive activity allowed." This was one rule that teachers and administrators could invoke if what you were doing something that did not break any true rules, but they did not want you to continue the activity.

my school has one of the best music departments for a public school in rural australia. i just take my guitar and store it in the instrument storage in the PAC, where myself and lots of other music students hang out at recess, lunch and sometimes after school with the music teachers, although theyre hardly teachers then. considering i have uses for it everyday, (classes, stage band and symphonic band) i obviously bring it everyday. its a pain in the arse to walk home with it though

in your situation, id ask the principal if you could store it in her office or something.
but if all else fails, you can always take up ukelele

This is basically a description of music in my school if you replace "rural Australia" with "suburban Belfast".

Almost every Friday I bring my Fender acoustic along with me to school. I go to a school with a little over 800 kids, and I play it mostly during my choir class when we're done singing, or sometimes in lunch or study hall. I have friends in some of those classes who play, as well, and we have a great time passing my guitar back and forth and showing each other new things. It's always fun. :) And I get people sometimes who I've never said two words to who will come up to me and start talking to me about guitar, saying that they play as well, and we get into a whole conversation about it. It's a fantastic way to meet new people, I've found out, haha. :)

i used to bring mine almost every day in high school, that was until i got tired of people wanting to play it/talk guitar/bother me while i was obviously trying to practice. it was like "ok cool you play guitar and i dont really want to hear you incorrectly play 10 seconds of under the bridge, so leave me alone please". that and carrying it around was a pain, but dealing with people was way worse...something about a guy playing guitar must scream "he obviously wants me to go over there and show him some licks"...at least where i went to school.

haha, such a simple tune, and my grandpa who's played for years and is pretty good didn't even know how to play it, I still haven't figured that out,
But I've decided that I will bring her Tuesday. Not tomorrow, because I hate bringing something new on a Monday, it just kinda erks me,

I never took a guitar to school.
But I had friends who took a guitar class at school, and they would bring theirs--during that time I could play theirs--for the class they had a place to store them.

This may sound funny but check in with your orchestra teacher if you have one. I use to keep my stuff where they would store instruments....

trwells, in grammar school (6th grade) I played in the school band so I only brought my guitar to school for rehearsal and whatever show, 7th and 8th grade I had my 1st band so only brought my guitar to school if we were playing, dress rehearsal and then the night of the show. In high school my graduating class was over 800. There were close to 4000 students attending so probably 10 rock and roll bands active every year, I only brought my guitar when my band was playing a dance or battle of the bands situations. I have to be honest in that I did most of my practicing at home so school was kind of a break from the discipline. Whatever you do have fun. From the size of your school you must be friends in a way with everyone there. I think there were more kids in my homeroom, lol.
