So here lately, I've been aching to take a guitar to school, I've decided it'd be better to take my Tele, 'cause I don't have a hard case for my acoustic, and I don't have any case for my 12-string, and I figure it'd be easier to harm an acoustic than a solid bodied electric, am I right here?
Also, I go to a small school, maybe 150 kids from kindergarten to 12th grade, so everybody knows everybody, it's kinda a unique environment. I really don't want to listen to unwanted criticism from stuck up Mexicans, (I'm not being racist, I promise, but that's pretty much ALL I go to school with, I'm great friends with some of them) who don't know anything about music other than their rap crap. I'm not scared of them, I just don't want to put up with them tellin' me crap.
My third fear is where do I keep it? I can't take her to every class, and my locker isn't exactly big enough to hold a guitar.. I have two teachers who I might could talk into letting me keep it in their until I need it, one's everyone's favorite, so she'd probobly let me, but there's also the fact that that's the 'nosey' room. so... the other's, well, I don't wanna deal with the class he's got in their during the one period I'd have to play.
I'm thinking Tuesday I'll take her, but, I'm notr sure yet,
What y'all think?

I take mine to school all the time.

Just be sure to get a smaller amp.

Also, I ignored criticism and kept bringing it, and I go to a school with almost 2,000 kids.

Sweet! I got a little Danelectro Honey Tone amp for my birthday, the little thing isn't the best, but it gives some sound, and it fits in my case, so, we'll be fine, :)

ahh good. I'm probably going to start bringing my Peavey to school. Simply because it sounds better. Good luck though. people can be harsh. I'd be ready for at least a couple "Boo" comments or a "You suck!" A lot of people just do it to be brash.

Because there's always that one kid. 2 friends who also play were just passing it around, and whenever we would switch, he'd boo the other person playing. I guess he was trying to be funny.

Just play louder and louder every for every comment he makes.

I was at a friend's house and his sister got mad because we were playing (Even though nobody was home when we started) , so I just upped the volume until I couldn't hear her.

Get a halfstack and carve out your locker, so it can fit.

I'm not sure bringing a halfstack on regular occasions is a good idea. I'd wait until an event comes up, like halftime at a championship football game or something. For regular play, for lunch or something, I'd stick to a 1x12 or smaller.

Well, I plan on gettin' a pretty good sized amp put in my truck, like permanently, I haven't figured out how big just yet though, so I can just like pull up to a party or someplace and jam out in the back of my truck, it'll be in a waterproofed box,
but, for lunch time jam sessions, it'd be fun too
haha, I've got some crazy ideas, this is slightly less crazy :)

The year was 1958, I was in the 8Th. grade and had the same idea. I asked around at school and all my teachers said no dice/a guitar would be to much of a distraction for the other kids. No one, even the music teacher, would take the responsibility. All saying that there was no place for guitar music at school. One day a teacher, not one of my own, came up to me in the cafeteria and said he heard that I played guitar, and told me that he also played guitar, and banjo. He told me that I could keep my guitar in his supply closet and practice at lunch time in his room. he Even brought his banjo to school a fue times and practiced with me. we became prity good friends that year. He was prity much the only teacher that would give me the time of day. I guess I was kind of a punk to the rest of them. At that time Country Music was considered Trash. Rock&Role was just plane Bad. And Blues was some subcultural thing. There's really no lesson to be learned here, except that if something is really important to you, there's usually a way. Just be patient and you'll find it. 8)
Danny,

I always play in the cafeteria. Great story though.
