Hypothetical scenario:
You have connections in the music world and have managed to score the opening slot in Led Zeppelin's final reunion concert in Madison Square Garden. What song do you open with? ^^

Well then, I guess I'll have to drop the 'n' in my name and call myself, "Martia".

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Here's a solution, Gossamer:

Don't visit or post from work!

Problem solved. Even if they are watching you, you won't get caught.

You may not have broken any rules or regulations, but you have repeatedly broken Forum etiquette.

It's not against the law to break wind in a crowded elevator, but it is rude...so quit doing the Forum equivalent.

By the way, Billy Corgan still sucks.

From the standpoint of an employer you wouldn't be playing on my computer very long. You'd be out on your ear. The average employee is only productive about 20% of the time anyway. Smoke/coffee/lunch/rest room/soft wear problems/ you name it. and you want to add playing around on your desk top. I don't think so. A good department head would have you so loaded down with work that you wouldn't have time to wipe the sweat from your brow. When you're here your rude and childlike. we have plenty of Real kids around these parts, and really don't need an adult that acts like one. Disappear all you like. When your here play nice. and your right this place is addictive. There I go shooting my mouth off again. 8)

I think this is an example of (1) internent anonymity braveness and (2) another legit reason why I have deleted my account a few times, wiping out my posts.

No, I have no severe Internet bravado complex. I would say 90% of what I say here anywhere (including to people's faces). Generally, I'm a pretty polite guy, except in the face of arrogance or rudeness. You wiping out your posts falls under both those categories, because you are arrogantly saddling the first replier with your (sometimes) goofy topics, and rude for the same reason.
Why don't you develop some Internet bravado and keep your posts there?

Quote:
You say Billy Corgan sucks.  But the Screamin' Armadillos, I guess, is a real band in Texas and we could look you up.   You are one of the smart people who can write here, obviously, and I respect you, but some of *your* posts are pretty "harsh" from time to time, and I wonder: I bet that if Billy Corgan himself showed up to one of your gigs, you'd be pretty psyched if he jammed with your band.

If I were face-to-face with Corgan, I would not just walk up to him and volunteer the statement, "You suck."
Not because I am afraid or because I wasn't hiding behind a keyboard...it's just because I wouldn't do that to anybody...

However, if he asked me what I thought of his music, I would say the same thing I always say about the Pumpkins..."Good lyrics,'James Iha is a talented guitarist, Melissa Van Der Auf (or whatever her name is) is a good bassist." (Note: I know neither if them are in the band anymore).
If he were to press the issue and ask if I like his playing or singing, I would politely say, "No."
If he asked me why, I would tell him what doesn't appeal to me.
I wrote he "sucks" because I didn't feel the necessity to write a full paragraph of what I think about his playing.

Quote:
I myself am not on record saying that any known musician who has sold 20 million records sucks.

So, you like much Donnie and Marie, or listen to many Kenny Chesney albums? How about Hilary Duff or Miley Cyrus? New Kids On The Block? The soundtrack to "High School Musical"?
Sales does not equal talent or listenability.

Quote:
Same question re Malmsteen--would you tell him to his face that he's a "douchebag"?

The one time I saw him in Dallas twenty three years ago, I told him he was arrogant, but he couldn't hear me over the incessant wanking on his guitar.

Quote:
So, if Billy Corgan showed up to your gig, would you tell him he sucks or would you let him jam with your band on a few songs?  Just curious.

Perhaps.
But let me put it this way; if it were my gig (that I was getting paid for), and I thought that a "guest" was not able to enhance our band, I would not let them play. If they fit in with our songs and style, I'd let just about anyone play. Nothing I've heard from Corgan (or Malmsteen, for that matter) lends itself to the idea that they would fit or blend with the Screamin' Armadillos.
I don't think we're better (technically) than anybody, but you don't put a bridle on an elephant and expect him to pull the wagon right beside a horse--both animals will suffer.

No offense and I always enjoy your input, but, in my opinion, it is not necessary to put IMO after every statement. Yes, I realize you have it in your signature. That's fine. I'm sure it does make people like you more.

It's arrogant because you think Brad should change the way it's always been since the inception of the Forum, just because you're paranoid your employer might catch you goofing off.

...and don't type a five paragraph answer as to why you're right and we're wrong, just drop it.

Hey Armadillo,Skirt boy claims to be a lawyer......does it make more sense now that he thinks he's so important that the Forum needs him....all the while spouting all the nonsense in this thread?
Add him to the foe list, you can't out puke a buzzard.

8) It takes a man from Tennessee to put it all in perspective in one succinct phrase!

Every time I look at this thread, I find myself wondering when the Skirt is going to delete all of his posts... again. Seems like he's getting in deeper and deeper, as usual. And very long winded, too. But humor has many forms in this day and age...
