I ordered this last night while under the influence. It will be here in a few days. I thought I was old enough to be past all this GAS crap. Didn't I just go through a huge downsizing in my gear collection just a couple of years ago? Didn't I just sell off a number of guitars and even a few amps, including my beloved SF-VR? What was I thinking? I'm not even in an outfit anymore, just the occasional open mic slash jam session with the boys on the odd Saturday afternoon. I should have my head examined. I should REALLY have my head examined for being so excited about this obvious flight of fancy. I am so torn. I don't know whether to be crawling out of my skin with the anticipation of getting a new guitar or beating myself over the head with a 2X4 for being so impulsive and giving in so easily.

Young people beware!! You'd better have a strong stomach (and a strong wallet) if you're gonna continue in this guitar enthusiast lifestyle. GAS is no respecter of persons or of age and it will haunt you all the days of your life. One thing you can never say is that nobody told you.

That's why I'm never near my devices when I take any sort of substance. I regret it. Last time I drank heavily, I called a friend and sang a Dean Martin cover to her. She still laughs about it whenever we hang out.

You'll need two amp settings for bridge and neck Pick up but who cares.....What's the middle position going to do? Or is it just two positions?

As with all my guitars, I'll adjust the pup heights so they're fairly similar in volume and just a little on the low side output wise. I prefer smoothness over total output and always have even when I was experimenting with really hot pups. The mid position is both pups just like all LPs but I may modify it to coil tap the bridge in that position for a little more Tele like jangle. I'll know more once I get it and play it a while.

I suffer from GAS too! But I can say I have never ordered anything while under the influence LOL. I have talked myself in to buying something on a whim, and almost instantly feeling sick to my stomach for buying something so expensive that I didn't NEED. Although, in the grand scheme of things......buying good AMERICAN made guitars isn't the worst thing to spend money on, because they will retain a large portion of their value if you need to liquidate them ;) Guitars may drain your wallet, they may strain your relationship with your spouse and make it hard to pay bills, LOL, but they do provide something far more valuable...and that is joy to your soul :) You only live once friends!!!!!

...when I was ordering my Hwy 1 strat, it was the BFG guitar in Gator Green...or the strat.

If you were stranded on a desert island and had to pick between a Hwy 1 Tele or a BFG LP, which one would choose?

Nice! And a nice pickup combination, P-90 and a Burtbucker 3. I love the P-90's. They go from sweet to serious growl with just a slight turn of the volume knob.
Congrats. I was trying to do the same downsize thing. It just doesn't work. I bought two more guitars over the summer and was real close to buying a third. Amps I have no problem selling, but guitars, I just reacquired my very first plywood acoustic. It's a sham it didn't still have the barbed wire Black Diamond strings on it. I plan on restoring it to it's former plywood glory.

Cool guitar..

I remember the earlier ones from that range - the unfinished top, the uncovered truss rod void, the lack of a treble/bass switch plate. Raw and unfinished - a Les Paul for under a grand.. Yours looks a little more refined than those first models.

Enjoy without too much remorse - you're a long time dead..

Pretty interesting guitar and a great looker. I can totally understand wondering what sounds you can coaxe out of that. Let us know how it sounds after you live with it for a bit. I'm also curious about the '50's neck. My '07 Standard has a rounded 50's neck but it's actually smaller than my Strat at the 1st fret and only gets big down at the 12th.

  I went window shopping yesterday and found a PRS 513. The manager took it down and said here play it. Thank Goodness for sobriety, or I would have taken it home...

Probably a good thing you don't have the same problem with motorcycles... :P that could get expensive.

Thanks, fellas, even you, DHD. Ya Jerk!!

Just to clarify, I was under the influence of GAS. I guess I should have made that a little more clear.

When I saw this guitar while browsing the L&M site it caught my eye because of the P90 but when I started looking closer I had to go to the Gibson site to get more info and discovered it was not like any LP I'd ever owned before. If it had been a really nice yellow maple top guitar with a solid body, standard trap' markers and 2 buckers I could easily have passed right by it. Same old, same old, ya know? Just another Paul. The whole guitar looked different, like something new. Chambered body, clean board, odd pup combination, odd controls, two toggle switches, thin nitro. I've owned LPs before and they're all pretty much variations on a theme just like a Strat or a Tele is but this one was different enough that GAS got the better of me.

BTW, L&M's price is almost $400 less than GC-(Canada) if anyone is interested.
