take the photo in front of a green screen, the photo shop it to have all your instruments sitting inside a gaping mouth!

Use one of your Mom's bedsheets on the wall...Just don't tell her I suggested it.

If you have a brick wall nearby, that would make a good background. Or just an old, worn wooden wall would be good. Don't make the background be too busy or it will distract from your guitars. Simple is usually best when it comes to backgrounds.

Hey Grasshopper, I'm a professional photographer so here's my two cents. Think about it a little more. A basement with maybe some different posters would be good, also if you have a garage or know someone with a cool old looking basement or cinder block wall. Old buildings work well too. Don't use sheets. They scream amateur. Wooded areas in the early morning or late afternoon have some interesting light for guitars. I'd leave the amps out unless you have something that looks like its been played out a while just so it doesn't look like an equipment ad. You could try doing some funky closeups of guitar knobs and other parts too. make the look abstract. Above all, use natural light and don't use the cameras built in flash. They just suck.

Question 1, what kind pf music are we talking?
if it's like a more rock style, I'd go with a gray cinder block wall, with enough room at the top of the pic for you to put your name in black, cement or maybe a ruffled up sheet as the floor,
or, also a rock cover alternative, something black and whit with you sitting on one of the amps, looking down at your guitar, uhm, dark ripped (or not, either would look fine) a pair of classic converse low tops, and a white or light colored shirt,
or, maybe something with you out in the garage, like with an old car or truck being worked on, and you on the hood messin' around with your guitar, with some grease, just don't get it on your guitar, of course, also, white shirt with grease stains, jeans with grease stains, and whatever shoes, more 'n likely worrk looking boots
a more classic rock, something like the first two would work, maybe add a hat, something with you in like a truck and your guitar right by you,
uhm, depends on your interests, and how much editing you want on it,
but post some pics when you figure it out, :)

I have a whole library of obscure photos that would probably be a better idea than a bunch of gear all lined up.

here's 2

Don't ask about either. Just some random pictures I've always thought would make the coolest/strangest album covers. I've got an even better one, but I'm saving it for if I ever have an album.
