Preferences for bending? I like Fenders, BUT, Gibsons bend nice, too. And what about acoustic bending? Why can't I do it on my Alvarez?

I like bending on my Strat a lot. And you can bend on your Alvarez. Its just harder. Work up some finger strength and then it will be easy to.

But it's like I'm the only one of my guitar friends that can't bend on acoustic, and I'm a great bender. :?

Ha, well I doubt there is anything on the guitar that prohibits you. Just press a little harder.

well, you can't get near the bend on an acoustic that you can on an electric in most situations, but you can get some decent ones if need be

my strat is very nice for bending to me anyways...

The weird thing is whenever I do bend on my Alvarez, I wind up breaking a string. Lots of broken strings means a lot of money, and that is something that I don't have.

If you're breaking acoustic guitar strings from bending....just how far are you trying to bend??? A one step bend shouldn't bust a string.

It shouldn't break your strings from bending... chances are you've got a sharp edge on your bridge or nut, which is cutting into the string when you bend...

Highway Ones are very good for bends due to jumbo frets and the bone nut that breaks in nicely - at least if you put some pencil graphite on it. Very good for bend-heavy styles like Blues. Bend up on the thin strings to keep from going off. Still, not like a roller nut.
