Yesterday when I was in my local music store-Reid Music- to order my new RotoChoir I was very very tempted to drop the idea of getting the pedal and instead buying a beautiful mahogany body Squier Tele Thinline with the F hole of course. The mahogany was so reddish that it actually looked like rosewood and the guitar was only $400 or so.I didn't try it because I was afraid that if I did I'd end up buying it and not getting my RotoChoir and putting a much bigger dent in my Rickenbacker fund.

IMO, Squiers were given a bad rep by the tone snobs who probably had never bothered to pick one up to begin with . Ever since production began in China a few years ago, the quality of them has vastly improved , especially with the introduction of the Classic Vibe series which, have given Fender's MIM Standard Series a run for it's money both in sound and quality.
nah, Jeffo, it happened when Fender rebranded the top end of the line as Fender in Japan. this left only the budget end of the line with the Squier brand on them for a while. Those were the first Squiers to make it to North America in quantity. A lot of people had bad experiences with them. Plus there's the tone snobs who can't look past the price tag.

Budget guitars aren't what they used to be.
