i would like to build a two channel amp head and a 4x12 cabinet with built in effects and things like an effects loop and controls like high mid low presence reverb etc. I want a cross between a JMC-900 and a Rockman half-stack with 65 twin spring reverb tanks. i would like to house both the rockman and other amp circuitry in the same head but have the rockman separate and accessible by a bypass button. i wold also like to include a ten-band EQ that bypasses the high mid and low + other tone controls when engaged. anything will help i.e. plans for jmc-900 and rockman, parts list schematics electrical diagrams etc.

Is this some kind of bait to try to lure Arjay back to the forum? :D

Not trying to be insulting or a smart guy, but do you have any amp building/electronics experience at all? If not I would suggest something a lot simpler. It's not as easy as combining different things that you want with things that may actually work. Plus voltages inside amps can get you dead if you don't know what you're doing.

^^^^^^ Seconded 63supro and this always needs to be restated, the safety aspect. I don't know whether the op has amp experience or not, but every time this issue comes up i feel obligated to mention something 63 touched on in his post here. If you don't know about, or are not willing to learn, the topology's of tube amps and how they work, stay well away from the insides of tube amps. This is not solely advice for the original poster here this is for everyone who is thinking of working on or modifying an amp and they have little or no experience.

Lethal voltages exist inside the amplifier even when it is turned off from the mains and unplugged. These voltages can remain in the amp for a long time before they finally drain off to a negligible level. The filter caps in a tube amp have the job of storing electrical charge, if they are not drained of that residual charge that's left in the amp and you go in there and touch the wrong bit you're toast :( literally. The charge has got to be drained off before it's safe to work inside the amp.

The op here may know all of this and may be fairly experienced about it and that's fine, but i feel obligated every time this kind of issue comes up to make, particularly novices, aware that there are procedures that have to be followed if you're going to be working on the inside of the amp, just making sure it's unplugged does not remove the danger of electrocution :!:

All that being said i wish you luck with your project and hope you get it up and running :)

Sorry my friend, it is spelled DEAD, as in no longer living, wearing a dirt shirt, expired, stiff, etc. Play with high voltages, not knowing what you're doing, and you'll see what I mean.
