EDIT: These would be my answers without thinking much. What comes to your mind at first is what you like best! No matter if there's dozens of others you like as well (like Sammy Hagar for example). This is what strikes me first:

- Freddy Mercury! (R.I.P.!!)

- Michael Kiske ( early Helloween)
- The singer of STRYPER, whatever his name is.

These are the first 3 which come to my mind.

Additionally:

- The singer of FASTWAY
- The singer of CINDERELLA

These are the top 5 if you would ask me: "which singer's voice would you like to have for the music you want to play".

I love all 5 of them!!

Females would be:

- Jule Neigel (Germany)
- Singer of SKEW SISKIN, whatever her name is.
- Norah Jones
- Christina Aguilera (yes, kill me but she rocks!! She just makes the wrong music, ha ha ha)
- Bonnie Raitt (very rocky and bluesy, if she wants)

There are, of course, so many...but a few of my favourites (and not yet mentioned) are
Delbert McClinton, and Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
cheers,
Alex

These guys were in a class of their own.

Elvis Presley
Ray Charles
Roy Orbison
Gene Vincent

There are some good singers out there that don't have good voices, i.e. Willie Nelson.

There are also folks that have/had very distinct voices. Prime examples are Howlin Wolf or Janis Joplin. But they're not in the Elvis or Ray Charles class.

Gene Vincent might have been higher in the list if he'd had better management and a decent producer.
