ACTA has already been passed in a few countries in the UK. I think it's sort of like SOPA or PIPA on steroids. Searching and destroying peoples' personal devices? Honestly?

Question:

What is the general consensus on what would happen to this forum if SOPA or ACTA (or some other version of that kind of policy) had their way?

I look around and I see one of the longer running threads here is a YouTube thread. Youtube posts in all manner of threads are commonplace everywhere on this forum. The currently popular thread "What's your Favourite Beer?" has people pasting copyrighted logos into their posts. People post pics of guitars and F/X boxes right off the internet. Schematics, name brands, if you thought about it long enough the list of items could grow to dozens and dozens of common every day things we take for granted now. I'm thinking that when push turns to shove, and it ALWAYS does without exception, we would see some fundamental (and uncomfortable) changes around here.

A petition to stop ACTA. The page also includes information on what ACTA is and about its shady, underhanded origins. Please, for the sake of the internet, independent music, freedom, and your very privacy, sign it. The EU Parliament has already been questioning the treaty, and Poland is openly protesting it. If this petition can get enough "signatures" (and so far it's looking like it will get far more than enough), it will show them how much people all around the world disapprove of this evil thing. If they don't ratify it, it cannot go into effect. There is still hope.
