Hi Alan, thanks i didn't know it was on so i'll be tuning in to that. i like Vox amps a lot, i have the little AC4TV and it's good. I was looking at the AC15C which looks and sounds unbelievable but a spanner was thrown into the works when i found out it was made in China! and some people said there were inferior parts in it. IDK about that, i know the AC4 is made abroad but i was ok with that for the really smaller wattage amp, i don't know if i'd buy the AC15 after discovering this.

Why oh why are all Vox amps not made here in Britain! same with some Marshall's as well, that MG series of tranny amps  i have the MG30DFX and it's never worked right from day one    power fading in and out and totally cutting out, those are made in some obscure part of the world too. That MG series is a disaster

I bought that mail order and that's the only reason i didn't send it back, it was too much hassle to post it back to them!

At the end of the day all this is about cost cutting, no good putting the reputation of the company at stake though by producing crap.

no probs mate , i knew it would be of interest to the uk bunch on here , i keep trying to get my mitts on a nice old ac30 , but usually end up scuppered (need to save up methinks) just for blasting out some taste and rory gallagher tunes 8) i've never tried the mg amps , tranny you say , doe's it have a big knob :D as for amps made in china , the wee epiphone valve junior head i picked up is built extremely well and sounds fantastic , i would use it for recording anyday , , i need to hear the wee vox amp you have , sounds interesting , cheers

Does it have a big knob  yeah real big  I used to work with a guy at Glasgow Airport and he had an old AC30 he said he'd sell me so he brought it into work and said take it home and try it. Man this thing was shagged! nothing worked! no tremolo, no reverb, nothing and the crap had been beaten out of it. So needless to say i returned it with a polite "no thanks!"

That MG is actually not a bad sounding amp when it works! it has digital effects built into it delay, reverb, chorus, flange and some others i can't remember but the trouble is you're playing it and then you say "is it my imagination or has all the balls disappeared out of that distortion?" then the sound really almost disappears, very frustrating. I don't know anything about tranny amps as they're a whole different beast to valves.

This brings up the old chestnut is a Vox amp made in China a real Vox? IDK about that, it's like with Marshall's, if it's not made in the Marshall factory here then to me it ain't a Marshall. Or maybe it is, if the quality is up there. What do you think?

I was on ebay today looking at amps, JCM800 head £350 the guy wanted for it the 2205 i think it was.

I love these type of programmes, well entertaining.

I once met a guy who worshipped his AC30, i plugged in and realised it definately wasnt
going to work at home, now in a live setting with others..........
