Over the past year of my life I have consumed at least daily high grade marijuana. Now by pressure of a threatened drug test, I must go clean. And for the first three days I was going great. Then all of a sudden in my fourth period I just felt unhappy and aggitated out of nowhere for no reason and have been ever since all day to the point of me just noodling away on the guitar to kill time, much to my induced boredom. Has anyone ever experienced or dealt with this and what can I do? I have to stay sober but I feel like Holden Caulfield inside, and I fear this is going to affect every aspect of my life, especially my guitar playing. ANY advice or help would be glorious right now. And yes I know its withdrawal symptoms and to those who smirk at "marijuana withdrawals" are truely ignorant so please if your not looking to help just keep on your merry way.

Marijuana is neither bad nor addictive.

Everything in excess can be seen as bad or addictive, eat twinkies for a year everyday and then stop and see what happens. Yes it is addictive in a certain sense and all who say otherwise are ignorant, no there is no direct addictive substance in it but the lifestyle, the mental break from reality are all addictive. and no i did not state it was bad. I very much love marijuana and would Love nothing more than to blaze a bowl of some Appleberry or Sweet Island Skunk right now, but I cant.

Physical addiction and mental addiction are two very different things. It's you, not the weed bruh.

Still, try jolly ranchers or some s***. And as far as the drug test, there's apparently something you can buy at GMC that clears that stuff out of your system. I know next to nothing about it though, google is your friend.

I've experienced and dealt with what you are going through but I didn't have to quit because of a job.I was an alcoholic and whenever I would partake in the green nectar I would grab myself some beers and one thing led to another and whammo.....I can't stop drinking.I tried to just partake in the green stuff only but it just went hand in hand if ya know what I mean.I always thought to myself also, that I was much more creative while under the influence and boy was I wrong. After I quit...I got much better and more creative on the guitar and harmonica. It was actually draggin me down and holding me back, I just didn't see or know it at the time.I am not against it at all.I just can't do it myself.I feel much better now that I don't drink or use and I am grateful that I never killed anybody or myself because of my stupidity.I use to drive while intoxicated and I can honestly say that I was dumbass. You most likely will feel much better after some time passes.Just keep playing the guitar to take your mind off of it and you will get through it.I am happy to say that I am now sober and think straight and enjoy things just as much as I did while under the influence. You can do it bro....

I agree with both of you guys A little smoke is neither bad or harmful in my opinion. But the fact remains that it is ILLEGOL, and can get you in a lot of trouble. Why risk everything for the sake of a little smoke. I've given up Alcohol and Tobacco, both very addicting and if I can do it so can you. But the deal is that you really have to want to do it. As far as withdrawal gose, go to your Dr. Let him know that you want to quit and he will help you out. Even if they legalise MJ it still wont be allowed at school or in the work place. That means the old random test wont go away any time soon. I've seen guys with otherwise perfect employment records get fired because of one failed RDT. explain that to your family and any other prospective employers. QUIT TODAY YOU CAN DO IT. Then talk about your success on the forum you'll be surprised how much support you will get. 8) Sorry for the rant, but this sort of is important to me.

Almost every day during summer I was either drunk or high on an assortment of beverages or substances, or both. I haven't had a beer in so long. Tbh, I miss it badly. I loved the sensation of everything.

Wow, I am just amazed...did not realize that Floyd and Danny were Doctors, and where able to give out diagnosis about Marijuana

Negative Creep, this comes as no suprise to MOST of us here on the forum, we have seen your posts, but I am not here to throw you under the bus. You are on the right track, but you are missing the target, GO TO A Doctor and seek treatment, not unprofessional help from whomever here on the Forum. You have made the right choice in admitting you have a problem, now DO something about IT! Your music will NOT suffer because you are NOT HIGH, in fact, although I have NEVER used drugs (highly incompatable with service in the United States Air Force, not to mention very dangerous when dealing with aircraft!) and am not a medical professional, but my guess is once you deal with your problem, your musical talent might just improve.

Again GO GET PROFESSIONAL HELP.

As for those who passed on personal stories of your problems with dope and drink, I commend you on dealing with it. Far too many musicians go down that road and never make it back and that quite frankly is a waste.

I commend you for quitting, hang in there. I used to use chewing tobacco (15 yrs). It was not easy to quit but I'm very glad I did. The money I wasted on that habit now goes toward gear purchases. :D

What helped me was to replace action of the addiction. In my case I needed to have something in my mouth to get through the craving. I used chewing gum, LOTS of it. It did not get rid of my cravings but it did help me keep my will power. After about a month my cravings were less and 2 months later the cravings were rare and easy to get through.

However, even now over a year off of the stuff, if I smell it (especially my old brand) I get a craving. As mentioned earlier you NEED to want to quit and it is a good idea to get help, a counselor or doctor could be helpful, but for sure you friends need to back you up.

Hang in there it's like most worthwhile endeavors; it gets easier with persistence and time.

It gets easier, for seven years I did everything you could get. It was a constant of being stoned, beered up during the day and then amphetamines for the evening gig and then the beer and gange to wind down. I was a party animal to myself. :(
An earlier post says it all about gigging, I got out, sold my gear never to play again.
I even moved my $@! to learn a trade.
Met the now wife but had to hide the addictions for years but I did become clean totally.
I just hid it by going "fishing" all day and night. It was the only way to cover why I looked like crap when I got home.
I just have two stubbies of beer a day now and I do feel proud of myself.
Even now, I can smell a good gange from a 1000 paces, recognise when someone is drugged up and think, Man I used to be like that!
Keep at it Dude, think of all the gear you can buy with the money you would of burnt or sniffed away.
Only regret... I sold all my gear.
I have now bought a lot of gear again but I just play now for my own enjoyment.

Keith

Workout, sets of pushups or jog a mile and drink tons of water. Like 100 oz a day. I assume you're a teenager? In a few weeks your testosterone will increase slightly as a result and you will feel better and have more energy. If you use more than twice a week that will happen with males. You see weight lifters use it so they can eat more but they are getting their testosterone from other sources.

T2: If you'll go back and read my post you can clearly see that I did recommend that he seek out medical advice, as I am not a medical professional. And that I did not in any way diagnose or prescribe anything. As information for you I do have extensive training and experience in dealing with drug and alcohol related issues. Do You?

Bro cutting anything out of your life that you do regularly and enjoy can be hard, especially in your case as you said it's not due to you wanting to do it but because you have to do it.

I used to be on a cycle of doing silly amounts of coke and mdma then getting home and doing ket or oxys to bring it back down again, yes it was stupid, but it was also really fun. Then I realised I was ruining myself and it was nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be and I decided to pack it in.

The hardest part was having to kick the friends that I hung with in that scene, and everytime I got into a situation where I would have done it before I kept thinking how much better it would be with the drugs. Not to mention feeling very agitated and depressed for a few weeks after stopping.

But if you can stick it out it does get better for sure, and actually you might even find it's pretty nice to feel clean

Now I can confidently pass a drugs test for the first time in 7 years, and I feel pretty good about that too 8)
