I'm not relly sure how to describe it, but it is in my head and i don't really know what i need to do to get it out. it is a definate deep rich bluesy tone, kind of half way between eric clapton and stvie ray vaughan. My guitar set up it awesome, but i am still not getting a satisfying sound.

These things happen, just let it pass and you will find what you're looking for eventually. Things could be worse.

I have a Vox DA 15 amp I got for $ 140. It has so many different kinds of mixes and you can even make your own sounds and program it in. Maybe its not your guitar, maybe its your amp. I`m sure if you keep working on it the sound your looking for will come.

Or have a deadline in two weeks and have just left 4 weeks worth of un-backed-up work on the train...

i was really tired of my tone i was getting from my marshall mini stack (my jcm900 fullstack and vintage fender sexy amp have been at my friends house for WAAAAAAY to long).... so i tried something---

mixed my line out with a totally unmatched amp.... my pignose with my micro stack. small trebly practice amp and bassy mini stack...

i had them cranked, and the marshal was on dirty.... got some AMAZING blended tones out of running them both together...

dynamics of a 6 inch speaker and 2 twelve closed backs was GREAT.... if only i had my other stuff to really make a huge dynamic sound...

so if you ever get bored with your sound and are sick of effects, link to totally diff ampos together and see what happens.

Give it time, sooner or later it'll hit ya like a ton of bricks, this type of stuff doesn't happen overnight.

Just because a setup is awesome doesn't mean it's gonna give you what you need, you may need a different setup of some sort. Sometimes a nice setup doesn't have anything to do it.

Look at Stevie Ray Vaughan, if anybody would've picked up his guitar they would've thought it was long past due for a setup, they'd think it was actually unplayable. But that guitar sounded *GOOD*.

You should try concentrating on your feelings while playing, just let your mind wonder around, think about anything. Don't let music theory totally get in the way of how you think your suppose to play, remember, in music, everything goes, there is no rules. For instance, don't say "This won't work, this chord progression has no business anywhere, this scale is not supposed to be used for this kind of stuff". To hell with all of that, do what you want to do. Use theory for guidance, don't let it tie you down.

What I'm trying to say is just let it all hang out.

Yea, just chill and give it time. It WILL come to you if you keep a positive attitude towards it and keep working on it.

One day you'll be screwin around at GC and you'll pick up yet another strat to try and you'll plug it in, start playing and go YES!!!! THATS IT!!!!

You'll find it. That perfect stratocaster. You'll know what to look for from then on. At least it worked that way for me.

As mentioned above, it just happens some day when you fool around
To me it came from lowering my neck pu(cs '69 pu), 1 1/2 turns on the screws and something magical happened to me

Are your strings old? Every time that happens to me I change my strings and polish it with a little 2001 or McGuires Car Polish, and I feel like a New Guitar Player.

I hate old strings. After a week and a half or two they just sound dead, wont' tune just right. And how good does position 2 sound with fresh strings???
