As some of you guys may recall, about a year ago I got my hands on a beautiful Kramer 650 G aluminum necked guitar (sorry I still haven't posted pics, I'll try to tomorrow). You may have also seen my topic about that 50th Anniversary Jag I want to purchase. Any ideas where I'm going with this...?

If I were to sell the Kramer, I'd get enough money from it to pay off the Jag completely in one shot, without having to dip into my wallet at all. I'd even probably be able to have a few hundred left over to put towards a new amp or a PA (my band is in DESPERATE need of one). While I do think the Kramer is beautiful, it's just not practical. It's WAY too neck heavy for someone my size to manage playing for more than 20 minutes, it's EXTREMELY finicky with temperature changes (making playing out with it basically impossible -- it can take up to 3 hours to adjust), and I'd always be afraid of something happening to it if I brought it out anywhere. It's more a collector's item, and a collector I am not. It's cool as all hell, but I just don;t have much use for it.

My other option is to get a job to pay for the Jag, which would not only take MUCH longer, but would be basically impossible for me to manage, especially considering I'm already having significant trouble in school this year.

So, should I sell the Kramer I rarely play to someone who will actually be able to appreciate it for what it is and get the guitar I'll love, or keep the rare-as-all-hell Kramer and suck it up and find a way to make a job and school work?

Sounds like you've made up your mind to sell the kramer. If you aren't using it and it's jsut collecting dust, and you'll play the jag more, i say sell. Its always hard to gauge cognitive dissonance (AKA buyer's regret) before you take the plunge.
Thus if you'll regret it, dont. if you wont, do

I said sell the Kramer. That guitar is only valuable to collectors. You strike me as a player.

Yeah, it's cool and all, really nice to look at, but as a player guitar it falls short for what I want. I think I'd rather it be in the hands of someone who can take proper care of it as opposed to a punk guitarist who knocks his s*** around like a toddler with Hotwheels.

Sell it. If it's not playable get it out of the collection.

I mean it's technically playable, just not practically. I'm not gonna show up to a venue 5 hours early so my goddamn guitar can adjust to the temperature change

Sell it and buy the Jag, along with a decent PA.

Unload it. That guitar only appeals to a select few and in today's economy, you're going to have a hard time selling it to begin with.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Sell the Kramer. I've sold a couple of guitars over the years to buy others. Like mentioned before if your not using the Kramer and it's just idling around doing nothing, go for what you really want. How much is that Jag retailing for anyways?

Retail is ridiculous, but I'm getting it for dead cost (somewhere around $1200, IIRC) so s'all good.

Sell the Kramer, buy the Jag and have a bake sale. Brownies are a really good seller as well as M&M cookies too. It's all the good things wrapped into one!

Sell the Kamer, however I don't recommend the Jag either.

I LOVELOVELOVE Jaguars, I've made that abundantly clear over the years here. I absolutely love the Jags switching circuit.

I'm telling you though as someone who plays punk and has a MIJ Jag with the classic bridge and vibrato, it does not suit your playing, even with a buzzstop and locking the $@!&* down, you are going to want to throw a TOM on the $@!&#* if you hammer it.
