Here are a few pics of a pedal board I built up pretty quickly over the past couple of evenings. This board is mostly a test bed. I'm throwing it together pretty quickly as a rough draft. I'll build a better one when I have more time to spend and do it properly.

First I get a rough idea how big it needs to be. I select some pedals and lay them out in an order that makes sense to me and check to see what sort of footprint I'm looking at.

Image

Find some 5/8 G1S fir ply I had leftover from another project and start making some cuts.

Image

Found some drywall screws in a corner and discovered too late that I needed to predrill the holes. Some places the ply split a little bit. I was in a hurry so I didn't redo it. All the joints are glued anyway so it shouldn't fall apart for the short term I'll use it.

I lay the pedals down and mark where I want my holes.

Image

Drill the holes

Image

Apply a little black paint.

Image

Install a hinge.

Image

and start mounting some pedals.

Image

Pedals are mounted, time to do some wiring.

Image
Image

I install some felt feet to protect my floor.

Image

I plug it all in and ... VOILA!!!

Nice build and nice pedals too. I plan on building my own board too, once I get a few more esentials.

Couple of evenings. Did the cutting, screwing, drilling and painting the first evening. I let the paint dry overnight. That harder part came the second night. You pretty much need three hands to run screws through the ply to mount pedals the way I did. The Fuller pedals mostly all take short little #6-32 machine screws for the rubber feet. I bought some that were longer so they'd go through the ply. Got them at a hardware store a few years ago for a different project. Home-Depot, I think or something similar. Same with the piano hinge. The OCD doesn't use rubber feet so it and the Lex and the DC-3 are mounted with Velcro. Two inch wide roll by 10 feet long available at WallyWorld very near but not quite in the knitting and crafts department. The little square blocks keep the Velcro mounted pedals from shifting, something I didn't like about the old board.

One of the things that makes building any board easier is the use of George L patch cabling. I'm not that crazy about the cable itself but the fact that you make your own custom length cables is invaluable. The George L kits always come with plenty of cable. I bought 2 kits. That gave me more than enough cable and ends to do just about anything.

That is sweet!! Your pedalboard puts mine to shame (mine is still a work in progress). Do you mind if I "creatively acquire" a few ideas based on your design? 8)

Help yourself.
(Besides, how could I stop you?)

While you're at it, Butch, if you look closer you'll see how I cut the bottom piece of ply 3/4" bigger all the way around. I did that in case I ever decide to build a cover for it. There's a surface for the cover to mate up to.

One thing I notice when I look at other guy's boards is they usually tend to try to cram a lot of pedals into a small space. It might take up less floor space but using it is a delicate operation when they are so tight together. You don't want to mess with the knobs on one pedal when pointing your toe at another which can be a problem after a few beers. Guys also seem overly conscious of weight and try to use the lightest material possible. Mine may be big and heavy and yes that means an extra trip into the venue and an extra trip out the door when setting up and tearing down but it stays put on the floor and it feels sturdy and solid under my feet when I use it.

Excellent work, my brother...
I've been threatening to revisit my pedalboard setup, and this may be the impetus to get me started.
