Eventually the spring in the kyser capo will break, so if you buy one, grab a back up.
However when you are not using it you can clip it nicely to the head stick.

The G7 is nice too.

I'm old school. The advantage is that I can tighten it just as much as I like, and that the leather won't harm the neck finish.

The downside is that it needs an extra piece of leather when used on small radius necks.

Mine is a G7 Performance capo. Aside from the Lifetime Warranty and replacement rubber being available, I find it quick and easy to use, and it is a good looking capo that is friendly to the finish on my guitar neck. My backup is a simple elastic ribbon with metal eyeholes and a nylon covered metal bar (not unlike the rubber band and pencil approach). The 1960s backup works and has served me well on 6 and 12 strings; but, it cannot compare with today's G7.

I haven't used a G7, but want to after seeing Richard Thompson use one. I've owned two keysers for several years with little problem. My biggest gripe is that I have a hard time fretting a B7 chord with a keyser capo.

Aw, that's nothing to fret about, stratdemon72. I'm lucky if I can do a B7 chord at any time. Even luckier if I can remember what it is.

I have a Planet Waves NS 6/12 String Guitar Capo that seems to work pretty good for me, whenever I happen to play guitar. I've also tried it on my bass for grins and it worked pretty good on that as well.

Yes, that's the one I bought to use to set up my basses with because they are so strong and positive on lock down. Now measuring neck relief is a joy.

I have only used two different capos. One is the Shubb that I use now. I have an older one and the newer one with the wheel. Both work perfectly but it seems the newer model is easier to adjust but not by a lot. I like the Shubb because it has the screw to adjust the pressure on different parts of the neck. I can put it on, take it off or move it pretty quickly but I can see a capo that is faster to move might be better when performing.

The other capo I used is one I've never seen anywhere except mine and I don't remember where I got it. My understanding of a capo is if it isn't put on the neck properly it can bend the strings enough behind the fret to change the pitch. I suppose this would be worse on guitars with tall frets. Don't know though because I've never had that problem. Anyway, the other capo I had had two metal pieces that you could adjust to fit between the strings. One went between the 1st and second string and the other fit between the 5th and 6th string. These pieces of metal would then sit on the finger board and you would slide the capo toward the fret. The metal pieces would hit the fret (behind it). This would put the rubber piece that holds the strings down right behind the fret. That would keep the capo from bending the strings enough to change the pitch. There was a screw on the back to adjust the pressure. Once used to this capo I could use it quickly. I don't know what happened to that capo and I've never seen one even advertised anywhere. I had it around 1985.

I do remember using a capo for a while that I didn't care for. It had a spring that held it wherever you put it. The spring was pretty strong and I just didn't care for it. Don't remember what brand or model it was.

This is way too hard a question. I am still trying to figure out what brand of guitar pick is best.

What is the best? All I know is the Shubb has been a very reliable one for me. I bought it just after getting my first acoustic about 7 years ago, still works well, has plenty of rubber cushion built in to not harm my guitar.

For playing John Prine accurately, I use it alot.

I like my capos to give me even pressure across the fret board. Other than using the old school nylon strap type, I really like the Shubb. My least favorite is the spring type that a lot of people seem to like.

This got me thinking that I still have my "nylon strap type" from the '70s and it still works fine. I don't use a capo very much - mostly on my acoustic to accommodate the singer when I'm strumming away - but the one I find gives an even pressure and just the right amount of pressure so as not put undue wear on the frets, is this one.

Cheers!
