hi , for the last few weeks i've been in a right hendrix playing mood 8) so the set up is this , strat -jen crybaby - arbiter fuzz face and a marshall vibratrem , now the vibratrem sounds ok'ish but it cant get that bog or woodstocky swirling sound , so i was just wondering what everyone else was using as a substitute for the univox univibe ?, cheers

+2 on the Deja Vibe...the folks I've seen/heard using them sound great.

A second suggestion (just for grins) would be a BOSS RT-20 Rotary Ensemble...it has some excellent Leslie simulations as well as a very good Uni-Vibe simulator (setting #4).

I have a Chicken Salad from Danelectro. It has a trim pot inside the pedal for more tinkering. Great little pedal, and it's orange.

The best Uni-Vibe/Rotary/Leslie emulators I've heard are the ones with the Vox Valvetronix amps-the AD and VT series and with the Vox and Korg Tonelab multi-effects pedals. All the Valvetronix modulating effects ramp up and down gradually just like the real Leslie. You can get more info at: http://www.voxamps.com/ you may also be able to hear demos of the rotary effects of the Voxes.

The RotoChoir by Tech21 is an incredible pedal in that it faithfully recreates every nuance of the original Leslie in the monster cabinet. One set of controls works the simulated bottom rotary drum while the others operate the top rotary horns. You can have the bottom simulated drum moving slowly and the horns revolving fast and Vice Versa . The result is a very realistic copy of the Leslie and Uni-Vibe- for about $2,500 less. You can get more info here: http://www.tech21nyc.com/ The RotoChoir sells for about $225.

I got a Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe for Christmas and love it.

I also have a Dano Chicken Salad. It's a little noisier, darker and not as versatile but for $30 it can't be beat.

I would love the Fulltone mini-Deja Vibe in stereo, but it's a lot of money and I just don't know how many times I'd use it.

I've heard Trower uses the Fulltone. Some like the Voodoo Lab MicroVibe, but it's not for me. Joe Bonamassa uses an H&K Rotosphere, another expensive pedal.

Right now, I have (don't laugh) a Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe you can get for under $50. It takes a second to start after you step on it and there's a bit of a boost in volume also, but for the money it's great.

That said, I'm saving for a Wilson Effects Haze pedal - boutique quality at mass produced pedal prices.

This is very interesting. I didn't realise some people equate Leslie with Uni-Vibe. I guess they have a similar kind of throbbing in common but beyond that they seem miles apart to me.

No one mentioned the Dunlop Uni-Vibe. Did Dunlop discontinue it? I don't see it on any of the online gear sites.
