i recently came across a good deal on a zoom g3 processor. nice unit, and works well with my carvin sx200 amp. (with my strat,of course)

my question is this- would there be a noticeable difference in sound if i put the unit into a power amp and cab, thereby bypassing the carvin's pre-amp? i have a friend with a tech 21 power engine, and it sounds great. just wondered if anyone uses this approach

tell me about your setup if you do

Phreddy I play a Line6 Podx3live straight into the PA every Sunday at Church. Use a floor monitor for a cab. It is easy, light, and it is adequate for the service. I've tested the HD500 and plan on upgrading at some point. On other band gigs I will use one of my amps and a pedal board because I can tell the difference between the two and I love the sound and tone of a slightly overdriven amp.

I cannot speak directly to your product because I don't know if it actually models any amps or is just a multi effects unit. I do believe that your amp affects the tone and you will notice a difference without it. I would think it would sound a little sterile and dry.
