Well, since I got all three different AC4TV combo versions, I thought I should make a video comparing each. I have not seen one video demo on youtube. So I guess Im the first [flapper] [flapper]

Watcha think?

So...if you could only keep one, which one? I like the small size of the mini but in the video the middle one (8" speaker) sounds the best to me.

The AC4TV8 is my favorite. Too bad Vox discontinued this model a year ago.

I picked up the AC4TV combo with the 10" speaker, thought it was great value for the money. I love the simplicity on the amp too, any messing around I want to do now will be through pedals.

Nice test. To me the middle one is noticeably better, but like one comment on YT said maybe that's to do with the way the combo is facing directly into the mike whereas the other two are off to the side slightly :?:

Great amp for playing at home too where you can't crank up big amp's. Everyone go's crazy when you play loud at home

Hi bluesguitar: I think it is a fabulous demonstration of the stereo separation provided by the angled mics on the Tascam. The little amp is coming only through the right channel, the big one only through the left.

The middle amp sounds the richest - because we're hearing it nicely through both channels.

I wonder if you could do the same test again, but this time with the amps in a straight line and the Tascam set well back from them to minimise mic preference? Then we could hear the sounds a bit closer to what you are experiencing in the room with them.

Anyhow. As the man in the driving seat, which one do you prefer?

Cheers - C

Edit: typo.

I have been considering one of these amps. You stated the middle amp was your favorite; however, Vox has discontinued it.

As Ceri mentioned, I too would like to hear all three straight on with your recorder. Great vid. Based on the clip I too like the middle amp.

Get one rkreisher, they're great. I have the 10" speaker one and these amps are not your typical tiny amps with no balls and thin tinny tone! Not by a long chalk! They are thick and full bodied despite their small size. They don't do super saturated, but stick a booster or distortion in front of it and they do that sound too 8)

Thank you all for your comments and input. I'm still learning, and thanks for the tips on how to place the microphone to accurately capture the tone of the amps. I decided to make another comparison, but this time the microphone will be directly in front of the amp, same mic placement and distances.

Thank you all again for the advice and tips.

I have an AC4TV, love it! I am wondering which amp I should get if I am looking for something which sounds very similar, only larger? The AC15HWx is mighty expensive and likely won't retain much aftermarket value. I like that it has a bypassable master volume.

Any suggestions with regards to this?
