Thanks for those clips SK. Four youngsters who actually bothered to learn an instrument instead of just mouthing off.

Actually IIRC they could barely play when the band formed.

And Quiet Riot isn't metal, they are, however, hair metal, which is just a godawful abomination that should have never existed.

And Black Sabbath is definitely metal. They were, in fact, the original slowed down metal band.

Floyd Ozzy became metal but Black Sabbath was Hard Rock which Ozzy turned into metal. But thats just my opinion. And Buxom Led Zep was never considered metal. Thats just silly

Why do you always say something negative to me? No matter the situation. I don't appreciate your constant mouthing off. And frankly, your "holier than thou" attitude is annoying.

Why would anyone say anything about a 9 yr ould kid that got a chance to get up and play on a stage and didn,t do half bad. Just because you don,t like the song is no reason. And Buxom Quiot Riot is not metal in any way.

Yes they are. How are they not?

Because you can feel the Noise...???
I don't think Rudy Sarzo would like to be labeled as a metal band...

because you said that the beatles sucked.they could kick many bands "butts"!

Hmm well, I can't actually read any of your posts. I just saw your comment in the quote.
My comment was a general statement directed at no-one in particular, but if the shoe fits ,.......
It doesn't surprise to hear that you've used an unrelated thread to once again bash the Beatles. If this is the case .... a pox on you sir.

Hard Rock yes Metal no. Do you consider Black Sabbath metal? I don,t

Then you need some brushing up on your music history my friend (no disrespect intended  )

Was Sabbath as heavy as say...We Came As Romans is now...no of course not. But I promise you that none of those heavy metal bands would exist without the influence of guys like Iommi and Ozzy. Those guys STARTED A REVOLUTION. They are like the Elvis Presley's and Jerry Lee Lewis's of heavy metal. So YES! I do consider Sabbath, and Deep Purple, and even (especially) Zepplin to be metal without a shadow of a doubt. In there day, they were THE HEAVIEST STUFF THERE WAS!!!! And nobody would have ever heard of Dave Mustaine, Kirk Hammet, Scott Ian, Kerry King, or even guys like Tuck and Paget without THEIR original championing of the genre.

Would Robert Johnson be considered Rock n' Roll today? of course not, but he IS! Because if it wasn't for him and those like him, Rock wouldn't exist...

Ok Ive ranted long enough... I rest my case 8)

Point well made Patcha. I think we can consider Black Sabbath and their peers as the Godfathers of metal.
Does anyone remember when the term "Heavy Metal" came into use? I don't think it was widely used in the 70s, was it? In the early 80s with bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Def Leopard etc and Ozzy's solo stuff, it became a genre. Maybe I'm wrong.

Technically the song "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf coined the term Heavy Metal, but Sabbath is generally considered the first Metal Band in the sense of the image that they sent out.

Well Patcha since I was around when Sabbath was touring and have went to there shows and there was nothing called metal then. What they did evolved into metal when Ozzy left.

Post-Sabbath, Ozzy has done mostly glam metal/hair metal. However, Ozzy's Sabbath was one of if not the first heavy metal band, and they influenced the entire genre. They also had an immense influence on Black Flag's slowed down, plodding sound from My War and onwards, which would end up influencing The Melvins, who were a massive influence on the grunge of the 90s and who also pioneered an entire sub-genre of metal.

Sabbath has been ludicrously influential, really.

Just cuz it wasn't called metal specifically doesnt mean that that isn't what it was.

BTW everybody says that Ozzy started metal after he left Sabbath...NO. Sabbath started matal in Ozzy and he took that with him. I credit Iommi much more highly than Ozzy.
