While prospecting at local pawn shops I ran across a nice 03 MIM SSS Sage Green/Rosewood. They were asking $275.00 It was in perfect shape except some dust and crud buildup.

I was looking for a VOX DA-10 amp and got pretty lucky. I found a basically new DA 10 with the original instruction manual for $79.00

In the end I got them both for $275.00.

The guitar cleaned up nicely. I changed the pickguard from standard white to Pearl. Everything is go except to my dismay the pickups are the ceramic magnet type. Yet they still sound nice. Frets, trussrod, everything is as new.

Sometimes everything just comes together.

I think that the sage metallic green is one of the nicest all time colours for the strat. Mine was a 2003 MIM HSS with a rosewood fretboard. I used her in part exchange for a new American Deluxe Tele but I still miss it.

Enjoy!

I must admit it was not my first choice in colors but has grown on me more and more. The pearlguard really dresses it up nicely.

Probably will upgrade the pickups eventually. I replaced the thin "zinc" trem block with a steel one.

Thanks

I didn't end up with one, but sage green metallic was one of favorites when I started in this arena. :)

Congrats Oneal, the Sage Green Metallic is a cool colour and these little Vox DA-10s are great little modeling amps-just try it through a 4-12 cabinet it sounds incredibly cool.

Thanks Guits,

It was a pretty good deal cash-wise. The going rate for a pawn shop MIM in my part of the country is about 250.00, depending on condition of course, and I really dig the VOX amp. One of my buddies has one and I had been looking for one for some time. This one is in great shape.

There is something really retro 1970's about the guitar to me. I think the Sage Green and dark rosewood harkens back to the avacodo motif and darkwood panneling of 1970's era interior design. Now if I can find a hard case with "gold shag" carpeting in the interior I will be set. Turn on some BTO or ELO and play along. "Wait a minute, I used to have hair"
Guess I could get a cheap wig.

I will post a photo later.

OK,

Now that I have entered the world of Photobucket and posting pics here is a thread that was asking for photos from me.

Taken last winter 2012. I admit that these are not really great shots but for now they are the only ones I have of this wonderful Sage Green Strat. You cannot even tell it has a pearl pickguard. Currently its in storage.

Sorry I have not got the finer points down and one needs to be rotated.

Again, Photos not too good. Taken in the afternoon and all exterior light was either direct sunlight or dark shadows. But then most of my guitar pics have some missing element where the true color is lost.

Pigs or it didn't happen? Seriously guys, sometimes your general funkiness outweirds me.

Ah well. If you say so:

Nice score Mr Lane. Is the DS10 the predecessor of the VT10? I have a VT and am quite happy with it. It does what it says on the tin.

Cheers

Nutter
