I was out getting strings for my Stratocaster today, when I saw a little beauty in the corner of my local mom and pop shop. It's a Line 6 Spider II, display model, basically new, for $119.00. I asked if they take trades and told them I had a PA system for trade, and they said they will if it checks out ok. I'm so excited, tbh. I just want to know some opinions of it too.

I use to play on one for my churches praiseband. And the three years I played on it I had absolutely no complaints. The built in effects were pretty stinkin' great, and one thing line6 has gotten down is their distortion... the amp could holler at you.

It was built like a tank too... funny story with that.

It got shot by a tank and survived?

But I might trade my Behringer KX1200 because I'm not a singer or keyboard player.

haha there were two instances where I thought it was going to be destroyed:

First time, my youth minister tripped on it, knocked it over, then landed on it... (he's a big guy too)

Second time, we were putting it on a truck to head out on a mission trips, and one of the youth (who insisted on carrying it-the amp was twice her size...) "fumbled" the amp and dropped it.

But the amp withstood both incidents... 8)

Seems like a wise investment. Can you use it as a head too?

I had an insanely complicated amp last year. It's sort of like the Spider, only it was a Crate.

I would suggest saving and buying a tube amp, but if you want that spider go for it, it is a great little amp. Just my .02 worth :)

how much power does it have?

The one I played on was a 70 watt version I believe. 1X12.

I could get a good SS, or I could go with a low end tube...

And Smokey, this one is a 2x12.

Late 80s Crate Excalibur GX900H and a 1989 KMD 4x12 Cab with 4 12 inch Celestions (Made in Britain) and my Marshall MS-2. I just need something medium sized for the right price.

Also, I've looked into a Blue Voodoo. Sounds good for the monies.

This is what I want to be able to sound like both clean and dirty (the solos are dirty) The Crate does both pretty well, but it's falling apart.

I played through a spider jam recently and thought it sounded great. It had a tweeter in it. I think it was the 150. Really nice amp, especially if you get the foot controller for the built in loop and effects. I thought the sound was really good for a SS amp. I should have recommended it in that other thread about SS amps.

This thing had tons of knobs, I don't even know where to begin. It looked like it even had a LAN jack in the front.

I think that's for the foot controller.
