OK, point taken. But the discussion seems to be restrictive in that it is being directed regards a musician's gender and no other criteria, which in itself seems to me to be sexist.
You're right there. Very "Boy's Club".

OK, so are you saying that sexism is OK? The last time I checked, this forum wasn't restricted to the 'Boys' Club' only.

Checking out a Babe with a Guitar doesn't replace Music Apreciation. It's not a matter of Sexy or Talented, but rather a question of who's both.

In fact, the initial question in the thread "Does her skill in guitar playing enter into the equation?" suggests that Sexy alone is not enough to qualify, and infers that good playing could be a sexy quality in and of itself.

The conclusion that sexy is based on looks isn't one I jumped to.

@ thread
I always thought Jeff Beck was EXTREMELY HOT!! And, in this business if ya aint got one (sense of humour) you need to grow one, IMHO  which leads me to a Spinal Tap quote

Quote:
Ian Faith: They're not gonna release the album... because they have decided that the cover is sexist.
Nigel Tufnel: Well, so what? What's wrong with bein' sexy? I mean there's no...
Ian Faith: Sex-IST!
David St. Hubbins: IST!

my top favourite female guitar player is Charlotte Hatherley, she is the one and only that can play together with Ash, having left Ash and went solo, Ash will never able to get a replacement but remain as the original trio lineup.

Thanks, Margaret! I need to watch my copy of 'This Is Spinal Tap' again. I'd rather avoid any 'Spinal Tap' moments, than to perpetuate or repeat them.

Hi Twangee :) Sorry, figured that would get ur attention not that I would ever bait anyone  I understand what you mean, but I've been hanging out with guys, musicians, camera guys... all day. Its strange how they are like puppies, so cute, even when their being bad sometimes  And, nothing wrong with sexy and talented I guess...and well, sometimes you just have to laugh about that stuff  or call em names  I also liked the idea of another thread with the sexiest male guitar player (u already know my choice on that) but I could add a few...Tell me honestly you didn't ever have a crush on a male guitar player and think he was sexy and excellent at the craft too... Wow, what a looong resposne, hmmm. must be the beer

There are quite a few talented women who play guitar, who also happen to be sexy.

Here are a few:

The 3 Sisters in the Swedish band "The Slaptones"
Bonnie Raitt
Ana Popovic
Susan Tedeschi
Joan Jett
Madonna
Charro
Joan Baez
Dolly Parton
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Terry Clark
Gretchen Wilson

I could probably go on and on.

To Margaret P:
Male guitarists, sexy, to me? No. Great, yes. Inspiring, yes. Same goes for female guitarists, too. Eye candy is too seductive and not very satisfying. Otherwise I would've bought a bunch of pointy guitars back in the '80's. 8)

I vote for Sheryl Crow and her Telecaster - see, even some Fender content

Gil 8)

I agree, I hadn't even thought about her. OR maybe Taylor Swift. I don't like either of their music but any chick with an instrument is hot as hell.

Any guys who think Sheryl Crow is supah-hot should come to Fort Wayne. My wife's old friend Julie is a ringer, and the bars are filled with midwestern girls who look exactly like that. I'm sure we could find at least one them wearing leather chaps.

I stand by my vote for Bonnie Raitt, who not only looks great, but has that voice AND those second-best-electric-slide-player-of-all-time chops (and no, #1 isn't Duane).

Sharon Isbin for pure class and enormous chops.

Nancy Wilson for showing the following crop how it can be done.
