...at Iridium, with his Twisted Blues Band - former SRV/Double Trouble members (which gave me added incentive to go) Chris Layton (drums) and Reese Wynans (organ), and Roscoe Beck (bass). Unfreakin' real. Oz is a Fender guy (tele and strat) and his stuff (which I am really just beginning to discover) is unreal, really advanced jazz played with solid blues grooves. He's simultaneously incredibly technical and deeply, deeply soulful, which is not an easy-to-achieve combination, at least not at the level at which he does it. He played mostly his new CD (not surprising, since it was the first show of a weekend run at the club), and, wow, just blown away. He's all over youtube...check him out!

No kidding; lots of lots of effects. His pedalboard looked like it was put together by NASA  . Funny enough, I'm not a pedals guy at all, but I liked the way Oz used them. The pedals made different parts of the songs pop and stand out, as opposed to adding sounds just to get some different noises in there. Very cool.

Oz Noy is the quintessential guitarist,he is comfortable and proficient in any genre of music-move over Yngwie-your nemesis is here.

He's a monster player with or without the fx!

Yep, the first video (with Chris Layton) was from the show; I believe the second video is from the following Monday night. Thanks for alerting me to it!
