I'm polling everyone, everywhere I possibly can with this question. I have a 1965 Super Reverb pushing a variety of speaker cab configurations, depending on the size of the venue - 1x12 Jensen Jet Falcon, a 2x12 with 2 GWS, and a 1x15 vintage JBL D-130. I need suggestions for the right OD pedal. My 2 primary guitars are a 2004 American Deluxe Strat with SCN pups & a late model Epi Les Paul with a Seymour Duncan P-Rail in bridge & GFS Crunchy PAF in the neck. Here's what I want to hear; crunchy rhythm a la Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, SRV, lead tones a la Billy Gibbons, Joe Bonamassa, Hendrix. Think "Kid Charlemagne" solo (light OD) to "Cheap Sunglasses" (heavy saturation). I've used a Digitech Hardwire CM-2, a Nobels OD-1, a Boss Power Stack, a Boss Blues Driver, a Visual Sound Route 66, and the venerable TS9. None of them are getting me the really smooth, creamy sound I'm looking for. I was thinking perhaps a Hermida ZenDrive or theCarl Martin PlexiTone. A lot of dough for the last one I know. Suggestions please :?: :?: :!: :!:

the Fulltone 69? I just came across a demo of one of those on YT but didn't watch it. How old would the originals be and is there a way to tell an original from the new ones? I suppose you'd find them in the usual places, CL, eBay, etc.?
Thanks.

For overdrive I like my Fulltone OCD. Based on video on Fulltone's site I also like the Catalyst.

Give the Danelectro Cool Cat transparent overdrive a try,it can give you a nice clean volume boost of a buttery smooth overdrive that sounds like a good amp being naturally over driven.

Box of Rock by Z-Vex, boost switch plus on the other side of the pedal there's another switch for a heavier distortion. Have one or the other distortion on, or you can run them together.

Edit. I see Miami Mike has recommended it already above 8)

Well so far, so good. This is exactly what i needed. With the exception of the Fulltone OCD, I've not listened to or tried out any of the others mentioned. I will begin checking out some demos of the suggestions. Does anybody here have any experience and an opinion on the ZenDrive or the PlexiTone?
Thanks and keep 'em coming!

I have a Zendrive. With single coils it sounds like a Tubecreamer. It's a very dark pedal, even with the tone maxed it's not overly bright. I use it mostly with my Les Paul.

If you're looking for something very versatile try a Timmy. Can do everything from clean boost to heavy crunch.

The Fulltone '69 is pretty cool. I have one of the big box ones but the newer version is in an OCD sized enclosure. Best fuzz out there IMHO.

The MXR '78 Custom distortion is good too and from what I've heard, the new MXR Custom Modified Overdrive is fantastic. I'm going to try one out myself.
