So you can picture the scene, after months of playing my starter pack of a Squier Affinity strat and Frontman 15g I finally had a bit of cash behind me and went strolling into the shop looking to purchase a beauty with the legendary Fender name on the headstock. After trying a few out, a Candy Apple Red vintage looking babe with a minty pickguard caught my eye, and I was drawn to it. Expecting to see a horribly expensive tag on it I was shocked to see the word Squier written proudly in gold on the headstock.

"Something cannot be right here"

So I got it plugged in and instantly fell in love with the Candy Apple Red Squier Classic Vibe 60's strat.

I've read a lot of positive things about them but I didn't really believe till I tried, but this guitar is built like a dream and sounds fantastic. In my head I didn't want another Squier, I wanted Fender on the headstock, but when I played this I had no hesitation in walking right up to the counter and giving them my cash, I regret nothing.

I tried it with the Vox ac4tv, which I loved, and have ordered but waiting for it to arrive. (I didn't wan't any fancy effects on an amp, I feel like I'd rather use pedals for effects and understand why I'm making the sound rather than have the amp messing with my tone :p ) So when I got home to play it through my frontman 15g I was slightly apprehensive that my love would lose some sparkle, but I'm still surprised how much better it sounds, maybe that amp wasn't as bad as I first thought!

ANYWAY. None of you clicked this thread to listen to me talk, you want guitar porn and cats. Here you go!

nice guitar! i think the squier brand gets a bad rap. i hear nothing but good things about the vintage squier tele. may have to look into one.

10 years ago my wife bought me a squier strat. for the price, it's a great guitar. i bought a few new guitars since then, and my grandson will be getting my squier when he's a bit older.

the bottom line is- if this guitar makes you happy, that's all that is important

Nice score!

CV squires are just outrageously good for the money. Can't fault them really.

BTW: Thats a fine looking feline beast you have there! :D

Cheers!

Andy

8) Joe the classic vibe series is a great guitar. You done good. I've played them. They are well made at a great price. Don't worry the bug will strike again and you'll find yourself buying something with "Fender" on it.

That guitar is an absolute disgrace. You should send it to me so I can properly dispose of it for you... (Just kidding!)

Gorgeous axe, my man...I played a couple of those Classic Vibe Squiers and thought, "If I were in the market for another Strat or Tele, I would seriously consider one if these..."

They play well, they look good, and you can't fault the price...congrats and Happy NGD!

Whilst I appreciate the offer I feel as though I can show it some discipline and whip it into shape

Don't you just know it, I've owned this guitar for the best part of 8 hours now and I'm already seeing what else I can buy!

Now to wait for the new amp to arrive and we can start thinking about pedals. What a fantastically large and expensive world this guitar game is

Happy pickin' guys.

Nice guitar, don't see how you can go wrong for that kind of money. That candy red is a bit to loud for me personally, I prefer the cola. 8) but I'm just an old guy, what do I know? 8)

----Danny,

NOT LOUD ENOUGH!

If I had my way every guitar that came out of the factory would be hot pink or neon green!

However that is coming from the guy who owns this jacket and throws himself off big things for a giggle....

So now before bed tonight the rest of you forumites can thank yourselves lucky that a 23yr old english snowboarder who has had too many knocks to the head isn't in charge of Fenders guitar finishing colour choices

Anyone who immediately dismisses Squiers as shoddy junk is just blowing hot air. Nothing could be further from the truth,Squier guitars are made just as good or even better than competitor's guitars costing hundreds more.

Congrats on your guitar-she's a beauty.
