All finished. Turned out pretty good for a beginner i think. I was a little nervous when there was resistance dropping the pickguard in to see where I was at mid wire but once i finished the grounding and clipped excess away all was fine. These things sound great. The Lace pups were nice but these just added that one thing thought i was missing. jumping the bridge and middle pup tone together was the right thing to do for me. i find i actually use the tone knobs now, especially in conjunction with the volume kit so i can darken the tone if i like or keep it bright when i lower the volume. I may change caps to .047uf on the next string change but thats not a huge deal now. Glad i went with the toggle switch too for adding bridge so i have extra tone options... anyhoo... pics are below. Hopefully you guys think i did ok for a novice.

Howdy Captainc!

Now, that's some tidy wiring you have there and the pic's (which BTW, are nice and clear) are much appreciated. I'm a Big fan of a mini toggle switch for the extra 2 pup combos! 8)

So... now you've caught the wiring bug, what are you planning for the next one?

Congrats on a job well done and enjoy!

Andy

ok, so here's the next project before I start routing for my STRAT-MASTER. I' going to swap out the stock ups in my MIJ Jazzmaster with some hot strat pups. I want the stagger reversed in there too! So, new pots, caps, and a little jerry-rigging ought to get her sounding HOT! Try to get some pics soon!

Plan is to eventually get either a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 for the bridge or a SD hotrail. I also might try and recess the toggle switch and get a new pickguard. Wish i knew someone with a machine shop to help with the bracket... Stratcat wants 80 bucks for the pickguard with bracket for the recessed toggle and pre slotted pickguard. I also have a no load pot on hand so might put that in place of the neck tone control to see how that does.

I'd LOVE to do another full wiring job but since I cant afford all the parts for another strat at the moment, i may try out a pedal kit. I found this site and this is right up my alley.

Cool beans, I have the JAG upper control plate ordered. Hopefully it'll be here soon so I can start measuring and route my strat. I think I'm going to order a pickguard from warmoth, 3-ply- black/white/black with just the bridge and neck pup holes. I think the black guard would look great on this galactic purple body! Pics coming soon!

So I got the hot 60's repro GFS strat pups in the jazzmaster, along with new 250K CTS pots and a .047mf ORANGE DROP cap. Sounds good, but I've yet to play her through the big boy amp! We'll see how it goes, if she's not sounding good, I also ordered a new set of 1MEG CTS pots and a .028mf oil cap and will restore her to original glory. Also, while I'm here, here's a couple of pics for the strat-master mock up!
