Fender is very proud to introduce its new top-of-the-production-line best: the Fender Select series. Designed as “Select instruments for select individuals,” the five guitars and two basses in the series are designed to be players’ instruments that put more than six decades of Fender experience and expertise on outstandingly appointed display and bring a wealth of high-end features and elegant design options to discerning musicians everywhere.

With choice tone woods, figured tops, strikingly beautiful finishes, figured and quartersawn maple necks with compound-radius fretboards, specially voiced Fender Select pickups that deliver masterful tone, and other first-rate features, the U.S.-made Select Series presents Fender’s finest selection.

Brad, that wood grain feature is seriously attracting, I so want to be a select individual when viewing those photos. Fender has created a great new Series!

Brad,

Are these intended to replace the American Deluxe guitars or do they sit above/below/beside the USA Deluxe instruments in the product range?

What can you tell us about the pickups?

LOL. As you should know, Brad cannot do anything but copy and paste FMIC's official product description from page 1.

Just for the record, I've actually personally played all of the instruments in the series and am planning on adding a few of them to my own collection. I don't believe I've ever heard the word "Sweet!" exclaimed as frequently as I did the week we had the protos for these floating around the offices. :-)

fender should do a limited run of squiers in the same finish to celebrate 30 years, probasbly a bit late to suggest that, but it would be nice to have them suit all wallet sizes :D

My question is When are they in the dealers shelfs and what is the street price?

Are the first Tele and third Tele pictured optioned with a bridge cover and pickguard ... or are those things which are unselectable in those Select Series models ... unless you specifically request the "honeycombed bedroom model" .... i. e. the Tele pictured in the Ad? (....and if so, what is the thinking behind slapping a big piece of protective plastic right over the top of an intricately honeycombed body ... is the pick-guard covering the bees nest???) It appears that the bedroom model Select Series guitar and the guy sitting next to it could both use an ash tray. Also, is "empress body" a polite way of saying "pine body"? If so, that would be a bit of a dissappointment, since I've always preferred pinecasters, but have never associated them with gender or thought of them as "girls guitars" in any way, shape or form.

Did you also want more of that series, .i.e. fretless, southpaw and 5-string Jazz Basses, 5-string and southpaw Precisions, or Carved Top Stratocasters and Telecasters with dual humbuckers and a Floyd Rose tremolo?

Personally I prefer seeing the Select series with a 3-band EQ hooked into an active/passive circuitry (basses only), Super 55 Split-Coils, S-1 switch, a locking bridge with LSR nut and locking tuners (Select Stratocaster HSS LT) and a 22-fret neck with abalone dots/blocks on all models (guitar and bass).

Street price might be much higher than a regular American Standard or American Deluxe because of the Custom Shop feel and quality of these instruments.
