I used to go to quite a few but this is now the only one. Without company involvement and oversight they all eventually de-evolved into nothing more than a good-old-boys club where those who don't tow the party line are made to feel unwelcome until they leave. Playing Devil's advocate I have to admit the FDP lasted longer than most before it degenerated. It degenerated a lot faster when FMIC pulled their support and made this place

TDP (now RI)
FDP
LPF
StratTalk
PRSForums
TaylorForum (now AcousticGuitarForum)
GuitarsCanada
NZGuitars (a fairly large closed private Kiwi forum)

... and a host of other private spin-off communities that broke away from some of the above, none of which lasted more than 24 months.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Aussie Guitar Gear Heads for me... otherwise I tend to hang out at effects/gear/twiddly bits places.

As time goes by I feel less able to make meaningful contributions—here and elsewhere—so I haven't posted much.

I spend most of my guitar oriented web time here but also occasionally drop by other guitar maker's sites for info on up-coming products etc.I also spend time at the Vox and Marshall sites as they are my prefered amps-of course I love my old '69 Bassman with the 2-15 '68 Bassman cabinet.

JamPlay! They have excellent lessons, live teachers, responsive forums, quick answers. It's the place I go to learn how to play.

I visit this site for issues regarding the Fender products I buy. I tried other guitar sites regarding guitar and amp advice but the Fender site has proven to be the best place to get Fender info quickly. If the issue can't be resolved on this forum and I can't figure it out myself, I can call Fender and get the final word or the perfect advice right away.

The other sites ended up being a waste of time, no sense naming them. Answers were slow in coming and there were lots of snotty, arrogant, anal, close-minded individuals with an agenda running most of those sites.

JamPlay and Fender get right to the point and provide quick responses when the community doesn't or can't offer an intelligible reply!

I agree that most sites end up being rather cliquie and this is the best by far as far as forums go. I also look around at company sites and I enjoy the YouTube integration that a lot use now, it goes hand in hand with music although the sound quality can leave a lot to be desired.
