I wanted to bring this thread back up to the top for a little bit...

The Epi G400 and the Gibson SG are nice guitars, but, I don't care for the feel of them. That being said, there is only one true style of rock guitar that can be played on an SG...

@ Butcha I think that you'll find a legion of guitarists who would beg to differ with your opinion that the Sg is just for one style of music. They would include:Duane Allman,Eric Clapton,Robby Kreiger,Pete Townshend,Frank Marino,George Harrison and countless others. The SG has even been used to cross over into jazz.My SG can get the real heavy metal crunch (if I ever decided to go that way)is great for classic rock, hard rock and the previously mentioned jazz. All in all it's a very versatile guitar.

@ guitslinger

I know... I was just saying that it seems that a good majority of people who play SG's are hard rock/heavy metal players.

Tony Iommi - Black Sabbath
Angus Young - AC/DC

These two guys helped put the SG on the map, in my opinion. Others (like you mentioned) Eric Clapton (back in his Cream days), Pete Townshend, Robbie Kreiger, etc.. helped a little too. But, I don't think I've seen anyone play jazz or be-bop swing, or even country chicken picking on an SG.
