Why is that a question can be asked on a forum and when you give an answer based on actual facts there is some know it all (infact you dont) that thinks his personal opinion is correct. please people if you have an opinion feel free to share, but dont use it to shoot someone down who has spent time to research facts before answering. using your opinion to answer some questions can be misleading i.e. someone has a squier guitar built in the late 80's could be worth 2-300 according to market prices and particular model, dont tell them all guitars of that era are not worth more than 80-100 because he could just go and sell it for that thinking he has a pile of s@*t guitar when infact he could have one of the best guitars made by squier.

moral of the story sometimes researching your answer is better than basing it on your own opinion because some people get offended when you publicly hang them

I hope you aren't referring to this forum.
Sometimes forums aren't the best way to exchange information because its easy to misread something or take it in a way it wasn't intended. Other times, as you say, people just can't tell the difference between their opinions and facts, but I find that this forum isn't as bad as some others in that regard.

no it wasnt on this forum.
just that i told a guy that models from that era could fetch upto £300 if it was the correct model squier, and that some tokais could fetch £400, and another guy who has many years experince with these models tells him these guitars are worth no more than a second hand modern affinity and that the uk market is overpriced. so i have researched a bit more and the tokais in the uk are going for £250-400, and some in the us are upto $875 or £550. Very sorry but i cant help the market values but the facts are there

Hi alfunkz: some Tokais from that period are great - some people liked them better than some of the stuff Fender were putting out at the time.

That's not my opinion, that's a FACT! (Joke.)

Story about forums: I once was looking at, ahem, another forum I won't name, and there was a thread where people were arguing about whether the "blue note" is a sharp fourth or a flat fifth. And they screamed and screamed at each other for pages, hurling the most eye-popping abuse in each other's faces over many hours. Until along came some mild mannered individual who very politely suggested that a sharp fourth and a flat fifth might in fact be the same thing. At which point they all turned upon him like a pack of slavering wolverines and shrieked insults at him so that he scurried off and wasn't seen again. And then they went back to happily howling at each other again.

I chose not to join that forum. :|

This Forum has its ups and downs... but it usually ain't the worst.

Cheers - C

haha c yes it seems some people have got a bit clicky and are now defending the arguing poster but hey ho the facts are there, in fact he is probably a contributer on here too i know he is in another forum but the fact he might see this isnt why i have done this i just wanted to share the experince so people are aware of the problems that can arise. opinions on tech advice is fine because you take a snippet of what everyone says and apply it to your way of thinking.

sharp/flat that all depends what preceeds and follows it haha, no shouting and no swearing please

I remember a lot of people on facebook arguing over the answer to a a maths question, and it got a bit out of hand.
It was something like 6÷2(1+2)=? and there was a 50/50 divide of people who said 1 and people who said 9.
