The wife and I just play for our own fun and enjoyment as well as practicing with the grand kids when we get the chance. Having a dedicated room for our gear is a godsend. Although its still a mes most of the time with tangled wires and cables. 5guitars/3Amps/A Keyboard/ 3mike stands & atone of wires.oh yes I cant forget the Computer.  As we grow I think I will take over the basement. It's a 20x30 room with a stone fireplace and its not being used. I've given thought to building a stage in one corner, maybe have it elevated about 1ft. I also would like to pick up a drum set 8)

Well guys..I gotta say that I am very thankful that I do have a house and am a homeowner, so in that aspect things are pretty good.I am not complaining or trying to make it sound bad.I just wish I had a nice dedicated area for my amps and guitars and recording stuff instead of the corner of the master bedroom. It doesn't really pull it off .I play in the front room 99% of the time cause that is where I am outta everyones way and I have my computer. The kids are growing up and gonna be leaving soon so like a few of you said ..my time will come and I can have my music room and my wife can have her art/sewing room that way all parties are stoked.I kinda can't wait...I love having my kids around but they are getting older and I told them they can stay with us and save money cause college is expensive these days. They are welcome to stay as long as need be with in reason.I don't want a son and his wife here that bad if ya know what I mean
Oh the day it happens I am having a major jam session with all my friends...it's gonna be a hoot.Bbque and music :D I see a few of you have really nice rooms set up...I hope to have mine soon. The clock is tickin

When we moved into this house 20 years ago I told my wife I wouldn't move in until we built a "family" room. Our hold house sounds like what Scarleg just described. So I divided the basement and got to building, I put in loads of shelves for books, TV, monster stereo, added sofa, chairs, end tables, gunsafe, etc.. problem is I was the only one using it.
So it became my mancave, man if those walls could talk! My bluegrass band used to practice their every week not to mention all the great jams with friends. My kids are grown and gone and my wife seldom ventures down to the cave. The last time my wife came down she put her hands on her hips, shook her head, and said "boy this place is looking a lot like a pawn shop". But she never complains because she knows where I am and it's well insulated so I can get stupid loud without bothering her. Man what a great wife.

I do this when I'm alone. I love it when my mom, brother, and grandma are all out.

Yeah that's great when you can get them all out and do that, only thing you have to watch is if you get so into it and you're zoning out enjoying it and with the volume you don't hear them coming back in  then it's fun and games

I always ask them when they think they'll be back, then quit 30 minutes before that time. But sometimes I skip out on hanging with friends just to do that.
