There is no such thing because Strats weren't invented until the early 50s, and Fender has just recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary, which means the company didn't exist until the late '40s at the earliest...

um, you really can't compare two guitars which aren't actually stated.... an 08 custom shop may be better than a guitar made in 68 or whenever, but then again, that same guitar could be better than a MiM..... it just depends on the two guitars in question, but overall i generally like the feel of the older models a bit better, other than the 08 am. standards, which feel great

A lot depends on condition.
If in good condition an old vintage model may be great, and worth quite a lot!

But if it was stored in a damp basement for 50 years it may need a lot of rebuilding to get it serviceable again..

With a new model you know it has just come from the factory.

Impossible to make an opinion on the two without knowing a lot more about their current condition.

I stopped worrying about vintage after reading an interview with the late, great Telecaster-Master Roy Buchanon who pretty much said something along the lines of "vintage is nice if you already have it, but the new guitars are just as good or better."

That just about covers it. Now for a freshbowl and a 1940 strat to play.

I guess to be precise I'll take older, no newer than 1970. From 70 on, their all about the same to me. The magic was made in the 50's and 60's.
