I got a Fender 5 string Banjo for Christmas, and I know-NO PICS, NO PROOF, but I shall post some soon. Anywho, it is so much fun to play, I had myself a one-man-ho-down last night! YEE-HAW....now if I can play something other than the beggining of dueling banjos!

Banjo is the MOST American instrument of all! I for sure prefer banjo to the most Scottish instrument of all...bagpipes! Steve Martin plays a wicked banjo. There was a great special on banjo on PBS about a month ago. I was enthralled. It was an hour long at least. They visited Earl Scruggs in his HOME. Very interesting and well done and well documented. I've been looking for the new Steve Martin CD but nobody here has it. I saw him on David Letterman with some other players and it was absolutely first rate. For an actor, Martin is a very serious and skilled musician. He used to use his banjo in his standup sometimes, but he has actually become a fine player.

Jeebus, I too try to bend the strings. I picked up some banjo chords off the net, and have been trying to get the slide worked into it too!

BrotherDave, Steve Martin is recognized as one of the top banjo masters today! That dude can wail! I have always loved bluegrass and the sheer sound of hte banjo, and now I get to try to make those sounds.

fun fun stuff!
