I got one for christmas along with everything else and it is the biggest pedal i have ever seen you could drive a truck over it. it costed something rediculous like $200 for a thing that does volume.

i am not sure wether to put it at the start of my effects (guitar in volume) or at the end)

I always put a volume pedal at the end. It guarantees that no matter what other things I did, there's no sound getting out when I back it down to zero.
