That's right. A pick cutter. I'd say that it's worth the $85, because it'd eventually pay for itself with all of the picks you'd never have to buy.

Definitely a great gift 8)

I got one of these as a birthday gift, it is a very very cool idea. But in practice not that great, the edges of each pick have sharp bits and aint too smooth. You can try to sand them down but it rarely comes out half as well as a proper pick. Ive found i will keep mine and show it off to lots of people, but would i actually use one of the home made plectrums for anything other than an absolute last resort reserve of a pick? no

Still darn cool though and a great gift, but it wont stop you buying plectrums.

I've got one too. It's really cool, but it's definitely not worth $85, because you should be able to buy one for about £16 in the UK, maybe just under $30 in USA. I agree with Ollyclam, the pick edges can be sharp. But if you sand them down, you can get a good edge. And I guess you can use a file to make them into a finer shape(eg jazz pick). I also agree that it won't stop you buying plectrums. But it is really very cool.

$85 worth of picks would last me a lifetime as I doubt that i've spent that much on picks in the 45 years I've been playing. For all the listed shortcomings people have with it,it seems that it's more of a novelty than a useful accessory.I'd certainly pass on buying one of these.

I have one that is very similar, it cost much less. I wanna say it was $25. They are very practical and cool. After people know you are doing it they bring you all their old gift cards and credit cards so most of the fun is making the coolest picks you can out of the cards you are given. I have some really cool picks (one person gave me their beatles iTunes card so i have Beatles picks). Basically i have a huge vase full of picks and hand them out to anyone/everyone that plays. It is a novelty but useful.

haha, really cool. I'd get one and get the thinnest plastic I can, like the planters peanut lids. (off of the cardboard tube kind) I've cut picks with those by hand, they weren't even, but felt really good.

In metro Chicago, seen 'em new in the box for about $30, passed up by a lot of people.

Y' still gotta buy substrate and will an old credit card really give you the sound you want?

I just checked the link again and the pick cutter is no longer available.

I just found out last night that we got our daughter's boyfriend a pickcutter for Christmas.I didn't see it because my daughter ordered it online for just $25 and we paid her.
