Hello all, I have a technical question here. Can anyone tell me why strat single coils are wired with 250K pots and Jazzmasters use 1MEG pots? I'm toying with the idea of tossing a pair of hot strat pups into my MIJ jazzmaster, and will swap out the 1MEGs in the lead circuit, but am concerned with the really small pots in the rythym circuit. I'm assuming these are 1MEG as well, but not 100% sure. Anywho, how would the strat pups react with the 1MEG pots. I would hate for my girl to EXPLODE!

Well 250K pots are warmer so they are used for single coil and 500k are brighter for humbuckers and 1 meg are the brighest . Think of how bright single coil pickups are if you used a 1meg it would be to bright to me but I think the way the Jazzmaster pickups are designed are why they use it. 1-meg pot attenuates even less than a 500K
