Such a nice Strat. Now I want one. I don't know anything about sweetwater, I'm an ocean away.
You're a lucky man, with the guitar and the girl. 8)

Aren't we obligated to have "resident experts"? I've been wandering around the Fender Forums since 2007, your skin gets thick after a while or you just leave. Being an Armadillo, you wouldn't have noticed. :) Everybody has an opinion, some feel obligated to insist they're right.

All I know for sure is, I had a great buying experience, I was treated very well and I got a beautiful guitar.

Here she is hanging with the boys, her name is J.J..

And if we all can't stay in the Christmas spirit, I'm sending cousin Eddie to straighten the offenders out!

Now that's a beauty, Oxfan! (I mean the guitar, not Randy Quaid's legs... :? )

And yes, my shell is thick, but I don't know why people have to criticize after the fact. If you had said, "Tell me about Sweetwater," then fire away. But you were saying, "Look at this, my wife bought it for me, etc."

Oh well, maybe I should have stayed out of it...

Congrats on your new Strat...it looks great!

Ox really nice Strat, cangrats!!. By the way, I've dealt with Sweetwater a few times and received nothing but great service. Being a business owner, the followup call I received was a nice touch.

You and I, as well as a lot of others here, have been around the block a few times and we're old and cantankerous. Quite frankly, I don't care for some who think they know what they're talking about or what I'm thinking.

Should it get too far out of hand, I will address the issue in a way that only I can.

STAY TUNED! has nothing to do with strings.

Ox, we really do need a Geezer section. I've been saying that for a long time. Just ask Arjay. A place where we can have professional respect for each other, honest opinions without someone getting their panties in a bunch, not deal with all the kiddie stuff or getting smoke blown up my kilt. Like an over 45 or 50 community.

By the way, how's the Strat play? Nice bass guitars too.

Yeah, but that would be excluding me! I'm under 45 (and way under 50). Although, Lady Armadillo and Armadillo 'Tween say I'm a geezer at heart, so maybe I could get special dispensation?

What we need is a jackass-free zone, and a Jackass Czar who has the ability to banish any who happen to wander into the zone..."Beware the Wandering Jackass"

Some of the kids are all right--SuperKid/SKCopperTele, TexasGuitarSlinger, TRWells (in all her redneck glory), Riley, and others who have slipped my feeble/early geezer mind. Those kids seem to "get it" and bring a cool and fresh perspective. They come here to learn, but they teach us things at the same time.

We can have hand stamps. I agree some of the kids are pretty cool. Man SA it wouldn't be the same without you. I agree about the Jackass thing even though when I get on my HRD soapbox, lot of folks here put me in that category. It never bothers the seasoned or professional players, mostly the guys who jam with friends once in a while or the really hard core HRD fans. I almost left a couple of times over it. I don't like being personally attacked.

If you guys weren't here, I'd be gone in NY minute.

Why, thank you, Supro!

...and there's a difference between having a strong (or passionate) opinion about something and being a jackass. You always state your reasons and evidence for your opinions regarding gear, as opposed to just saying, "This is lousy..."

Other people might have different experiences or opinions, but they need not take offense.

I had a guy criticize my Fender '63 reissue Vibroverb because it "wasn't electronically an exact replica" due to the solid state rectifier and the presence of a printed circuit board. I pointed out that he also needed to criticize the fact that it has a three-prong plug and a 1/4" connection on the footswitch (instead of two RCA jacks).

After his shock at me knowing the difference, we had a laugh and he agreed that while it wasn't an exact replica, it was a good-sounding and good-looking amp.

I think everybody needs to approach their gear that way--if you like it, and you're proud of it, take any criticism/critique in stride...and unless an opinion is requested, it might not be the kindest thing to share it (especially if it's a negative statement).

Just my opinion...oops, I'm breaking my own rule!

Why do we need a special place? We all get along except for the jackasses. SA, you came with a dispensation, you're in brother! Recent events have shown that Brad isn't going to put up with losers here anymore. It's so easy to be civil to one another.

As far as how she plays, like a dream. She's a typical MIM. Lower radius, strings are ridiculously low, NO BUZZ! Everything you've ever heard about a Strat applies.

Love her to death.

I failed to mention the kids. Now don't get all worked up about me calling you kids. It's a term of endearment and if if i didn't like and respect you, I wouldn't even bother with you. I can see the beginnings of some good, if not great players. Who knows? We may be talking to some of the greats of the near future.

We can say, "We knew them when!", that is, if we live that long. Quit screwing around and practice!

BTW, what does the "J.J." moniker signify? (If you don't mind me asking...)

Congrats. She's a beauty!
You've got a good wifey! (;

"Redneck Glory"? nice, I like it. I may just write a song and title it that, or find a few people 'round here who can play, and start a band and call it that. if you don't mind of course.
