Make sure that your drivers are updated if using a PC.

I've found that 85% of the calls I get to troubleshoot are
related to using outdated drivers.

I'm just going to say that Blertles wasted his money. For about half the cost of the average Mac, you can build your own PC off of Newegg with the same or higher specs. It's not very hard to do either. The thing that takes the longest is actually loading the OS, which can take up to a few hours. Also, it's not hard to change a browser.

With Apple, you pay for the brand, as far as I see it. Same with Alienware or the new laptops with "Beats Audio". It's cheaper to build your own, and easier to fix on your own because you know the thing inside and out.

Also, for the Chef, go with Avast Antivirus. It's standard procedure to install with every data recovery. I use it, and haven't had a virus since.

+1 Malwarebytes is really good.

I'm trying Avira right now and it seems good too, and it has a free version free version.

How is going from a mac to a windows computer a downgrade? Windows is better.... You can't really do anything on a mac.

I take it you have never owned a Mac. If you had you wouldn't be asking that question.

I've never had a problem with viruses on my Mac, but they do exist though rare. I run Sophos on mine. It never gets infected but it does find stuff that will carry over to a pc through email etc. I just bumped my iMac up to 16gig of ram. Pretty coo and highly recommended. Ram is really cheap.

I've never had a problem with viruses on my PC. It's called not visiting malware distributing sites and is incredibly easy to do.
