I don't think it's the site. I've been coming here for a couple years and never had troubles.

I should add though that my internet surfing is pretty conservative compared to most people. I've learned my lesson twice now with catastrophic failures. I don't click all willy nilly on every little thing I see and I never download software of any kind. I'll update online but as far as the initial installation, if it don't come in shrink wrap it don't get loaded on my machine(s). No exceptions. OK, one exception, I did download iTunes and there have been a couple of occasions with my laptop where I've gone to work someplace new and had to download a printer driver but only from the actual manufacturer's official web site and that is it. I also don't click on links sent to me by email and I use webmail for all email.

I hope the OP isn't goofing on us because I'm at a loss to understand what kind of difficulties are being encountered here. Nothing of the kind on my end since July 2007.

I think he has a keylogger. The only thing he can do is change all of his passwords from a different computer and reinstall Windows/Mac OS/w/e he has. I see it all the time at the computer repair shop I work for. For clearing that up, try to find a good, home ran business. Those will often be cheaper. If you take it to Staples or Office Depot, expect $750 or more for a standard data recover and reinstallation of your OS. They can't do it themselves, so they send it to a cleanroom, which is not always necessary. Best of luck, if I could help any further, I would.

Joking aside, this could be it. It happened to me for the first time a few months ago and it is a royal pain in the behind. Worth looking into.

On the other hand, I've also found that new editions of browsers sometimes conflict with certain websites. Just for example, Internet Explorer 9 freezes solid when I open photobucket.com and I have to close the program and begin again. Firefox works fine with photobucket - but takes so damn long to open.

On my main computer, at any rate. Different on others.

Anyway, perhaps the Chef might want to see if the Fender Forum works OK with another browser than whatever he's using?

Cheers - C

Ceri, I recommend Google Chrome and upgrading your ram. Before I worked at the shop, my computer was terribly slow. Now I have an old 2007 Dell that runs better than most computers my friends have. A simple upgrade in browser and ram that ran me a total of $70 was a sweet deal. Plus, I got payed to work on my own computer that day. I just had to buy the parts out of pocket.

I'm just going to say that Blertles wasted his money. For about half the cost of the average Mac, you can build your own PC off of Newegg with the same or higher specs. It's not very hard to do either. The thing that takes the longest is actually loading the OS, which can take up to a few hours. Also, it's not hard to change a browser.

They had screen savers in the 60s? I thought the first time I ever saw one was around 1984 or 1985 or something. You know, on my IBM PC-XT with a Hercules video card and a 12" green monochrome monitor running PC-DOS 2.21 on 256 Kb of RAM and a 5.25" floppy, which meant something different then than it does now.

Chef,
Grab a copy of System Mechanic Professional by Iolo and run it, you can use it for 30 days as a trial, it'll help clean up and protect your PC, it works great, we use it on all our computers at work and I have it on all my PC's at home.
